George Seifert/John Fox/Mike Smith

My point was...most people who aren't Panthers fans would give the nod to Seifert over Fox. But to Panthers fans, Seifert was a terrible coach. Most people outside of Carolina would think it laughable to compare Smith to Fox. He's only got one year under his belt, and no playoff wins. But here in Carolina, where people are growing more impatient with Fox with each passing year, many of those same people probably think Smith is a better option and would trade right now if they could.

No one will ever accuse Fox of inheriting a Super Bowl team. Since he's been here he has one of the highest winning percentages in the NFL, and has built a couple of pretty good teams. His first was built on defense, the current one is built on offense. He's adapted, his players love him, and he's the most successful coach we've had here by any metric.

Not arguing that. Point I was trying to make to all of those who want his head is this....sometimes a little perspective is in order. You (Panthers fans) hold a much lower opinion of Seifert than the rest of the League. You are also starting to hold a much lower opinion of Fox than the rest of the League. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm an Angels fan. Mike Scioscia does things that make me pull my hair out sometimes. But....the Angels are annual contenders after 40 years of futility. Sometimes you have to accept the good with the bad when it comes to your head coach. Don't run a good one out of town.

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
