Possible Preseason Signings?

Recommended Posts

Was just looking over the roster and was wondering if there might still be any signings in the preseason. LB is really the only position that could really use some additional bodies with experience. Of course WR and DT both wouldn't be hurt with some more bodies. And lets not count out a trade as Hurney has been active in trades during the preseason the last couple of years.

Just a quick search of FA still on the market showed that Keith Bulluck, Antonio Pierce and Adaluis Thomas are still available. None, that this point in their careers, would be starting on this team but as backups, if willing, would be good.

Of course Haynesworth is also looking like a man wanting to be traded and Washington at this point in time might just get to the point where they are willing to accomdate him.

We also might not see anyone else added to the roster. Just wanted to see what others might have heard or thought.

yeah, he did. and i doubt you'd see Haynesworth land here in a trade. We'd have to trade away our first round pick, along with something else just to get him. Unless they let him go for a 3rd and a conditional pick. Just don't see that happening though. Plus, he's a complete waste of human flesh. He gets paid a 100 million dollar check (money that I could never even dream up, it's so unreal)... then spends half of it on McDonald's and twinkies... reports to camp, and can't do a conditioning test (that seems more and more like he's playing it off) because his knee hurts. "oooohhh, my knee, somebody get me a can of corn... a can of corn and I'll be alright." I mean, come on, I wouldn't want that in my locker room.

edit: Haynes "not" worth "it" can take his 100 million dollars and shove 'em up his @$$!!!!

    • No, you're right. It doesn't mean you can't call out his flaws and poor play. But it also doesn't mean you can't admit when he plays well and shows improvement. Not you personally, just in general I mean.
    • I will say, I do think there's a version of Bryce that could be really successful as a high-volume passer in a spread-based offense built around quick throws and timing-based intermediate throws with deeper throws schemed up around them. I actually think the power run based offense we're running is a poor fit for Bryce as it requires him to play under center far more often. It's a very traditional offensive approach whereas I think a scheme that spreads defenses out and lets Bryce distribute the ball quickly with anticipation and accuracy is the sweet spot for him. The key, of course, is to find a way to run the ball efficiently out of those formations. Our personnel right now (backs and OL) aren't good fits for that style of offense and I'm not sure it's a scheme Dave Canales favors very much either.
    • I root for him, and I hope for the best, as does essentially everyone. But that doesn’t mean you can’t call out flaws and bad plays. And that’s what a lot of people get wrong.  I hope I’m wrong and that he continues to improve a lot, I just doubt it. But I’ve been wrong before
