Telemarketers!

I thought that they went way!

So around 6 o'clock I get 3 calls within 20 minutes. Each time I look at the Caller ID all it says is "1009". Finally, on the 3rd call I decided to answer it.

It's a telemarketer! He's trying to sell me herbal Viagra! I tell him that this number is registered with the "National Do Not Call list" (Which it is!) and he is in violation of that and I demanded to know his number and company! He tells me that he is NOT in violation of the Do Not Call list because he is performing a "Public Service" by telling me about this new herbal alternative to Viagra. I told him if it looks like poo and smells like poo, it still is poo! That he better not call this number again for any reason! I hung up on his @$$!

here's a little secret about the "Do Not Call List"...

If you can tie yourself to a Non-Profit, you can call DNCL all day.. We did that when I was with Health Insurance.. One of our insurance companies had a secondary policy that was like a "gap plan" that covered your deductible.. it was supported by AIG, but under the name "Health Advocates Alliance" which was a non-profit group...

needless to say, we hooked up an auto-dialer and went to town... 10,000 #'s an hour... more if we wanted...

none of that was really relevant to the non-profit... even after, we were only using a telemarketing center (which we partnered with) to make all kinds of calls...

if we got caught, we had an out.. actually, we did file under 501c3.. so we were completely legit.. but far from what you would expect to be legal..

aaaaaaaaaaaand, with that said, regardless, if you can't get a # because it's blocked, there's nothing much (within reason) that can be done anyhow to locate it..

imagine Borat on the other end of the line.. I took my frustrations out on innocent people, often.. I had a blast, anyhow.

I harass telemarketers. One called me selling magazines. I listened to their pitch. I had a few beers and was in a good mood. I started picking out all these magazines and you could hear the excitement in that broads voice. After I had picked about 7 subscriptions, I asked if they came in Braille. She asked why and my response was,"Because I'm blind." She replied with, "I'm sorry" I then asked her angrily why was she sorry, is this her fault. She said no. I the yelled at her "What do you think I'm some sort of freak that needs her damned sympathy?" Again she said no and apologized. I screamed at her, "Why are you apologizing am I some god damned freak who needs her fuging sympathy?" Then she hung up

Most of mine are political or surveys. I had one NC political candidate call me with a canned message from a Canadian caller id a couple of years ago. Brilliant!! (it really would have been if his opponent arranged that call). The others are usually secondary services offered by companies I do business with (phone, tv, bank, etc.). If I don't know the number (or don't like it), their machine can talk to my machine. I will not get sucked into wasting my time, energy or emotion.

    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
    • I think there is good points in this thread to what the team needs to do. 1) Ball isn't really the issue but, he needs reigned in.  Coach and he need to realize when things aren't falling from the three and learn to play other facets of the game.  He's an amazing talent and when he's on, he's on.  But he can also shoot you out of a game.  We're lucky Miami went that way but that is too many missed threes.  He still needs to bulk up if he can, but he needs to drive more.  He's pretty good at finishing usually and hopefully the fouls come (probably not though).   2) The whole team needs to be more physical.  As others have stated, we need more bulk in our bigs.  Diabate is a hurricane of energy but cannot go against the larger centers.  I love him on the team but he should be more of a match up type guy or energy off the bench.  I think he'd be insane off the bench.  However I think the biggest issue with Diabate and Kaulk is the lack of offensive game.  The lack of a jump shot or anything.  Teams figured out to just leave them on the screen and crash lanes.  There has to be some sort of threat.  We need a 4 and a 5 that can do those things and stretch out the court. 3) Bridges.  He's just undersized.  However, I feel he really threw his all into it the last few weeks when others were gassed.  He was ok not being a focal point.  I'd like to have him off the bench as well but I assume he'd be traded to make things work.  4) Miller.  Dude can light it up when on, but disappears for quarters at a time.  Also he needs to work on ball handling and passing.  He's a turnover machine at bad times.  Also hopefully over the injury so he can bulk up too.   5) Kon. Just a rookie.  Long season and back injury.  I have no doubt he'll be back stronger and focused.  Needs to work on defense and physicality like the whole team but yes, a rookie he'll get there. 6) Coby.  Has to be resigned, no question.  The bench lineup is rough without him running the point.  Team has big potential and the front office seems sharp.  They seen the hive and how crazy it got and how much the city wants this.
