My season's thoughts~

My end of season thoughts:

Jake gets a pass this year, but I think we also look for our next QB. I like Moore but am not sold he is ready for the next step. Derek Anderson would be the guy I like. I will never forget what Jake has done for us and believe without him we wouldn't have gotten as far as we did.

Trgovacwhatshisname...really dissapointed in our Defense. They either had the wrong plays in or didn't execute. It is un-exusable not to put a spy or an extra man on the other teams go to guy. I won't beat the horse anymore than it has been but would like to see a new defensive co-ordinator.

Davidson - I loved our offense and thought our O-coordinator did a great job. Especially coming back after half time - really great adjustments. I think sometimes we gave up on the run maybe a little bit but will take it.

Double Trouble - Love it - can't wait for next year. I want to see Dwill keep showing the world what he has, and I would like to see Jstew get more carries too!

Smitty is the m a n. 'nuff said.

O-line...at the beginning of the year I was down on Gross, but watching him this season - and especially seeing so many other BAD OLine's out there..I really hope we resign him.

Peppers - I love the guy but maybe it's just me, but I don't get the fuzzy feeling he WANTS to be here. I know they have offered him mega bucks - and he's worth it! If he wants to go than like Jenks - cya and thanks for the memories.

Hope to see Moose back, Rosario do more. Hackett can go - love the guy but he's just too banged up. :( I give Jarrett one more shot.

Rhyne Robinson...well I hope hes back but I think Marc Jones did a GREAT job late in the season.

Excited to see Dan Connor back and health in the LB.

Rhys Lloyd - even with the bad (and really bad) kicks he still blew the rest away. Well worth it and hope he returns and does even better.

Lucas dissapointed me this year...I wish I didn't like Marshall so much or I'd say let Lucas go! I hope he shakes off this season.

Godfrey, Harris, Gamble - these guys played awesome! Another reason I think someone else was saying "dont worry about Larry" cause I can't blame these cats.

So - guess I will see you guys around March just in time for the draft. Forum still rocking but too much hate...seems like fans here jump from one boat to another depending on the game. We went to the divisional playoffs! I am still pumped and thrilled at our season. I was at the game sat night and got back to Raleigh around 3ish. Was an awesome game - when we walked down the field after the great return Jones had I thought we were going to destroy the Cardinals! It went bad quick, but like many in the stands I didn't give up until the 3rd Qtr - was great to see everyone having a good time!

    • Really? You don't see why a team can't draft a QB in the 1st round while then starting their former #1 overall pick over them while on the last year of their deal? It puts the team in a TERRIBLE place no matter how the season goes.  If Bryce sucks, you have to answer questions as to why he was still on the team to begin with, let alone starting over the rookie.  If he's good, then you run into the situation the Vikings were in last offseason with sticking with the rookie contract or the the guy who just performed instead of said young QB. It's one thing when teams keep a vet around as a bridge QB, it's something entirely different when that QB is still only in their mid 20's and was taken #1 overall by that team.   That just doesn't happen and not sure it ever has in NFL history before.
    • What is the alternative? - BY, will not play for less then his perceived contract (just like Cam Newton did). So you pay him top of market as befitting a 1st round, Heisman winning, playing birthing QB would get. Or you cut him. - Then we are forced to either sign a stop gap QB / previously failed QB and try to fix him or you spend a 1st round pick and draft a guy, basically resetting the team.  The reality is that we all want a top 5 QB. The problem is there are only 5 of those guys in the world and drafting, even #1 overall doesn't guarantee that.  The other problem is the NFL market. Young QB get paid. Even an average, young QB gets top of market deals. I know a lot of people here think we could sign him to an 'average QB contract' but thats not reality. Didnt happen with Cam wont happen with BY.  So we could let this season flush out and he is again a middling QB. But then we cut and restart or accept it is what it is (including compensation) and build a team around what we have.  My money is on the latter.
