Once the CBA is in place this team will turn around.

I know this isnt exactly popular but I agree with what Richardson is doing. No cap this year, dump the stupid salaries. With the CBA up in the air it is stupid to invest a ton in the roster right now.

No one knows what the cap will be, what the rules will be etc. Yeah it sucks this year, but by doing what he is doing Jerry is setting this team up to succeed in the future. We will have a low cap number, a high draft pick with presumably a rookie cap in place. Due to the number of free agents restricted this year with no CBA, once one is in place there should be TONS that can help this team.

Fox? Screw him. Sorry but I can't keep dealing with losing games and the 'it is what it is' Bull crap. I honestly think the reason Cowher didn't take the Bills job this year is two fold. One his wife first and formost and kudo's to the Bills org for keeping it under wraps considering all the talks they had with Cowher this offseason. Second he is right there in Carolina where his girls are. By the offseason things will be settled enough in his family life he will be ready to coach again. We have everything going for us to get him, we are right in his back yard, girls are attending college close, good ownership and this team is getting geared to be a 'Cowher' team. Good OL, power running game, a QB that can learn to manage the game and developing a good defense.

I honestly feel once the CBA is done (*) then this thing will turn around quickly.

(*) I believe there will be an 11th hour proposal by the owners the players will accept near the end of Feburary that will put this thing to rest.

I agree, I however dont think Cowher is going to coach again anywhere.

I know having a bad year isn't the most popular, but you have to have them while you rebuild. If there is any year to start rebuilding, this would be the one. We are not a few pricey free agents from a superbowl, especially at 0-3, so why bring in contracts that will just hold back the rebuilding efforts.

Fox will be gone at the end of the season, or before, do not worry!

Plus I'm pretty sure we all get capri suns and orange slices for being troopers and making it through this.

Hey losing isn't easy but this is the 16th season for this team. In the previous 15 season we have been to the playoffs 4 times, been in two NFC Championship games and one superbowl. We have a 6-4 playoff record in those 4 seasons.

Yeah we have had some up's and downs but overall not a bad run. The last time we went tits up, we were in the superbowl 2 years later. With the basic pieces we have right now along with some good drafting and some quality FA pickups which we can get when the CBA is hammered out, I can see us being back there again in just 2 years, just like last time.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
