The better question: How can anyone justify Clausen over Moore?

Correct

You bring up throwing motion and I say Phillp Rivers doesn't have the prototype throwing motion and he gets by. You said nothing about that. I'd say you only really perfect your throwing motion by seeing what works in game action not in practice. Which is right and anybody playing football will tell you that.

Taking snaps I pointed out to you that all QB have mind farts everyonce in awhile when it comes to getting the snap from center. His problem isn't he can't take a snap. Seriously if he couldn't take snap would he even be playing in the NFL.

His problem come from him thinking too much at the snap and having a brain farts this will improve as he plays more in game type speed.

Your problem is that most of the stuff you say can be rookie mistakes and only improve with game speed reps.

I never said those things weren't rookie mistakes. I know that they will improve with playing time but I also think a QB should have a basic understanding of those things learned from practice (I'm not saying Clausen doesn't have those). My question is since you pointed out that neither of us are paid professionals how can you say that I have no idea what basics for a QB are then you go on to state the basics for a QB? Since neither of us are professionals then neither of us really know the basics for a QB.

my opinion is that i think matt should start rest of games. I was mm fan till the bucs game after that i was still a fan but i want to let matt take a break (which i thought they should have let jake do) then bring him back a game or two. this would have let him sit on sideline like has done in past and maybe rekindle his old self plus it would give clausen game time. They wouldn't have to worry about mutiny from anyone because of the concussion excuse if mm still playes bad sub in jc. i like moore better because i feel like he can move us down the field and can put up most points. i just want to give him a last chance to not only help him but us. im also a little bias because im anxious and want to win now.

You ask me what I think the basics were and I gave you my opinion. But yes I said neither you and me are getting paid. I also said I rest my statements and opinion on the facts that the people who do get paid and know what the basics are put him in the game.

The Colts ended up with a record of 3-13 during Peyton Manning's rookie year. He only completed 56% of his passes and threw 28 interceptions. But the Colts never benched him either as he started all 16 games.

Since there isn't a proven, veteran QB on our roster then the best option for Jimmy is to just leave him out there and take his lumps. By all accounts he's a hard worker that wants to keep improving, so he'll continue to improve. Don't crucify the kid after one bad game.

You could make the same argument for moore. let moore play and clausen hold the clip board, atleast for one season. we're not getting any production from either one. might as well not shell shock our rookie.

eventually our d will win one for us. that the most i can hope for.

the only problem with that is Moore won't be here next year so you accomplish nothing by playing him at all since we aren't going to the playoffs

The benefit is Jimmy Clausen won't end up ruined for life like David Carr. Don't want to waste a second round pick on a back-up QB because hes traumatized from being started too early.

Enough with the "Moore won't be here" garbage. It's a stupid excuse. It is possible that Moore resigns. Also, if Fox does leave, it is not guaranteed that Jimmy will start. New coaching staffs tend to bring in more "their" style guys.

Peyton and Aikman got beaten up in their rooike year too.

People David Carr Just sucked it didn't have anything to do with getting traumatized his rookie year. He just doesn't have the mental stability too be a NFL starting QB. He could have sat for 4 years and still would have sucked.

Jeff Lewis sat behind John Elway for years and sucked when he became a starter do people remeber him?

We need to find out if Clausen is a player or a david Carr. We won't find that out if he rides the bench. This year is alreay lost we need too prepare for the future.

It's not garbage it's a fact. No in coming HC has ever resigned the losing QB from the year before he got their. I don't think in the history of the NFL that has ever happened. So Unless Moore leads us too the playoffs and saves Fox's job (and how likely is this too happen) he won't be here next year. Sorry that's hard for you to see.

Your right Jimmy may not start next year but he will be on the team that's a fact also. The 4 years left in his contract assures that.

Jimmy Clausen= the shiz even if he does watch cool runnings in the comfort of his home with chipotles while he tweets. We cant say that about matt moore because he is probably down in a well crying somewhere about having his position taken away. We dont actually know what his mug is up too. Where is he? Why doesnt he show his face? What is he afraid of? Rejection?! Oh wait....... So i just summed that one up for ya. Tootles!

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
