Hurricanes VS Canucks game thread

So far, our PK sucks. Our PP sucks. Snider is playing out of his mind, and so is Ward. Our D is just congesting too much in front of the net. Get the puck away, lay some hits and don't give chances on rebounds. This first period has been terrible offensively. Hopefully some adjustments are made at the intermission to get some scoring chances and hold the puck in the offensive zone more.

12 shots, but only about 4 were good ones. They've had 10 and I'd say at least 5 were good. Much better ratio. We're shooting RIGHT INTO blocks from the point. I know I saw at least 2 that hit a defender as soon as it left the stick. And it isn't like they're 1 timers. Our d-men are just setting up and trying to fire straight through them. I don't mind that as much if we're up, hell, maybe we hurt one of them. But down 2, pick your shots better.

What is sad is, Vancouever is doing VERY basic stuff offensively. Little drop passes as they enter the zone, WITH defenders there. We're just not picking it up. The Canucks are doing things I have seen at the pee wee level. Need to be smarter defensively.

You missed a good goal. In case you haven't seen a replay of it, O'Sullivan has a 1-1 on a breakaway pass. He holds up once he enters the zone at the top of the circle to wait for Sutter, takes a look his way, fires at the net, top shelf. Pretty solid goal. Been waiting to see him produce offensively, and he did.

The 3rd should get scrappy. We stole a LOT of the momentum on that goal. Been playing better since. Hope it carries over.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
