Peppers situation: A blessing in disguise?

Positives:

Frees a lot of cap space

Draft picks/players

Getting younger

With an even weaker defensive line Fox/Trgo will be forced to change their scheme. Hopefully they'll realize we don't have the same defensive lineman we did 6 years ago.

Negatives

losing great player

add your own.

Until you see what we get for Peppers... it's tough to say and how his career plays out, it's tough to say.

I really don't know what to think of Peppers, as a person. I think calling out the team really hurt his trade value for us. After all the Panthers have done for him, I think that was a low blow. Not that anybody outside of Charlotte has any sympathy for our franchise due in part to that.

Hey yall..First time posting here! Peppers has been a great player in Carolina. I know we are all sad to see him go. In all reality, I am suprised that half the team does not pack up and go with him. So much talent on this team and not alot to show for it! Fox and Jake need to hit the road... (Thats my opinion). Carolina needs to franchise tag peppers and trade him to Detriot to nab up all the goodies in draft picks they have to offer. Pay tons of $$$ for Matt Castle and wait for next year to pick up Bill Cower! But only if this was a perfect world!:nopity:

Thanks Kyle! Feels like home on this site! Im from Idaho and I am probably "THE ONLY" Carolina Panthers fan here in this state. So its good to know there are some die-hard Carolina fans out there to share my pain about our loss to Arizona. You guys are right, our defense didnt show up to play the last couple of games we had, so obviously Peppers was not that significant of a player to have made much of a differance. The only reason why it hurts to see him go, is the simple fact that maybe some of the other players (like Smith, Williams, Stewart, Muhammad, Goss) might get it in their minds that Carolina is not the place to be if they want to win a superbowl, and it wont be so long as Jake and Fox are around!

Cowher sucks balls. We don't need him. No team is going to win the superbowl every year, some of you really need to get a grip on that reality. 12-4 is a great record, so there is something to show for the talent the team has.. which is not as much talent as some of you want to believe (on defense). Will a superbowl victory come? Who knows. You don't know and I don't know. It's funny how so many are crowing for Cowher after we lost in the playoffs. Cowher lost in the playoffs every year he was there but one, and the one year he did win the Superbowl, he would have lost if not for a lot of officiating help.

Hey Eater! Nobody remembers 2nd place! Fox needs out just because he is way too easy on these guys. Carolina needs ACCOUNTABILITY and it is not gonna happen with fox around! Fox defended Jake after the loss to Arizona. That was not a "bad day" for Jake, that was a complete screw up! Now I dont know about you but, even though I didnt smoke weed and did any drugs or ever bring the police home to my parents, but everytime I screwed up, my father would woop my ass! ACCOUNTABILITY! Jake has done the same old bull poo over and over again, and If he doesnt do what he is being paid for (Deliver the ball to CAROLINA players) then fire his ass! Same goes for Fox. Denver fired their coach (he even brought 2 superbowl trophies home), why then should we stick with Fox? I have not seen any tophies in our case yet! So bring a new start and see where it takes us! We cant do any worse. Remember NOBODY remembers 2nd place!!!:banghead:

So did your daddy take you out in the middle of the street and woop your ass at a press conference? Or did he do it quietly in house?

Are you sure that Fox didn't "woop" jakes ass in private?

    • A lot of people have been slobbing all over this last draft but I hate the way that Fitterer/Morgan have built this offense since drafting Bryce. Anyone with eyes knew our IOL was crap but we didn't invest there and instead took project receivers and an injured RB. If you want a lesson in how build for your QB wrong, IMO, this was it. Draft him, protect him, THEN get him weapons. Its pretty much a rule, draft interior linemen, pay tackles. We're paying everyone. We had the opportunity to draft a center instead of Brooks, or perhaps instead of trading up for XL, trade back and take 2 guards/center. We could have paid Lewis and still drafted 2, but Hunt at 100m was just an overpay. And it's not like the guys many of us were begging us to draft were long shots. They're solid starters from day 1. Injuries happen. That's why all your starters can't be high value players. You need rookie contracts mixed in to be able to absorb those inevitable losses on the line. An offensive line playing an entire season together is an abnormality.  Factor into that also paying Moton 44m this offseason with a huge signing bonus when we didnt need to do right now to do him a "solid".  Now we have to sign Icky and possibly Bryce and it's a mess with more money tied up in the offense, inevitable cuts and dead cap coming. That's not even factoring in shifting Corbett to C last year after major injury to start at a position he's never played for an NFL season. It's all stuff that was foreseeable and pretty easily avoided.  The $$ and picks we've spent trying to surround Bryce outside of Tmac (Mitchell and Horn are TBD) have been used inefficiently IMO. Smarter drafting and FA with the line could have let us get more reliable weapons than XL and Sanders in FA. It might not be popular opinion, but I'll take a Bersin with hands that can get 6-8 85% of the time vs a big play XL with greasy fingers.  The part about hitting guys in stride was more about placement, which Bryce has struggled with. Obviously not every route is run to be hit in stride, but they do need to have the ball placed well to give the receivers a chance to do something after the catch. I just used Hill as an example because he's the biggest YAC threat I could think of over the past 5 years.   Receivers can feast on dink and dunk if it's schemed right. But to make it work, that vertical threat has to be there, if not the deep pass then the high speed routes that can spring someone for the huge YAC to keep the safeties from cheating into that 20 yard box all game.  I hope DC and Bryce can keep up what they did in the last game and it isnt just an Atlanta thing. But no matter what, I really want to see some better long term strategy coming from the FO.
    • Eh. Don't speak it into existence lol. We've got enough on our plate just trying to overcome the bad juju of what has been our historically bad perfomances more often than not in primetime over the course of 30 years. We're overdue for a statement primetime game!
    • Passing chart had 3 over 20 I think. The Legette TD and another completion and an incompletion. All over 20 yards.  An incompletion at 19 or maybe 20 yards. So you could technically probably say 4 throws 20 or more.     That seems high to me compared to the norm. 45 throws and 10 YPA are both way high.
