It's time Panthers snap ball to Armanti

It doesn't matter if Edwards is the greatest player on the field in practice or anywhere else, he will not see the field for more than a play or two if at all as long as Fox is the coach. It is a direct piss in the eye to Hurney and Richardson. Fox didn’t like all the changes that had been done and this was just one more example of a move he didn’t like. He seems to be taking it out on Armanti personally after Edwards gave him a couple of mistakes to seize upon. You notice a few weeks ago that he said he didn’t have time to put any plays in for Armanti (even though they had already worked on some) but they had time to put a wildcat play in for Mike Goodson. Must have worked on that at least a little in practice. That alone speaks volumes about Fox, Davidson and the staff. And starting BSP over Pike shows that Fox is not above spite as a motive.

This would be it.

It's just inexplicably retarded that we traded a 2nd for him.

We had every reason to believe that Armanti Edwards would play with all his heart, and never give up. That's what he proved against Michigan right? Stuff like that isn't coachable.

The kid is a rookie, guys. Just like most of our QB's. Every now and then a few rookies across the league earnt he right to be a starter, it happens to a few franchises when they get really lucky. Most franchises plan to coach and train up their rookies, so that they can make a decent regular season debut in their second year. We were at such a loss for talent, that we had to play most of our rookies. I'm not sure what you guys expected of them, other than improvement, but even that should hinge on our overall team injury status which has been atrocious this year.

It remains to be seen what Armanti can do for us. Clearly he was not ready to start at either wide receiver or QB for us. But it won't be motivation that holds him back, it'll be our ability to plug him in to a scheme and position that maximizes his capabilities.

Can anyone here confirm that Armanti Edwards is not meeting with the Rip Scherer at all in practice, not studying QB film, and not being given any practice snaps with the bench teams? Seems to me that even the emergency QB options will get some snaps.

Yeah, ok, Tyke has much more time with him than Rip does. Armanti's 40 yard dash speed beats out Steve Smiths speed at the combines.

Whatever is on paper doesn't mean poo though. He is playing out of position. We took Armanti because he was an NC hero, and one day he'll be a great player, but not today. And if he isn't a great NFL player one day, then we'll cut him jsut the same. But don't ask YET ANOTHER ROOKIE, and one who cannot withstand the number of sacks our bigger QBs are taking to take the hits they do. He isn't ready for it, and there is no point in making him suffer through losses in a position we are filling with other players.

Remember, even Antwaan Randle El threw a touchdown pass in the Superbowl as a wide receiver. Armanti could do that too one day, and that is the inspiration our coaches should create for him.

You can count on him being effective. He's younger than Hines Ward and better than Hines Ward and Hines Ward still produces in Pittsburgh. But yes...will he WANT to stick around. As others have said, that depends on who we bring in.

While I wouldnt be suprised if he kept producing, Ward and Smith play different style of football. Ward doesnt rely on quickness and speed like Smith does, which are the first things to go as you age.

I know, but when Smitty gets to the Ward Stage, he'll change his style and just be there to catch the ball. Smith can easily have 3-5 more years here. He won't be #1, but I just don't see Armanti fitting in, unless he outperforms LaFell or Gettis next year.

    • Love the Freeling pick even more after watching his pressers. Dude is sharp and definitely seems to have the right mentality. I loved hearing how personal he took having a bad game with a torn labrum and instead of seeing that as the reason for his bad game and not changing anything, it motivated him to work even harder. Such a great pick, we finally got our all pro level LT for the next decade and now we can move Ickey to RT or guard with no hurt feelings due to his injury. Second favorite pick is probably Brazzell. He said he false started on his 40 and it cost him probably 0.04 seconds, so he’s more of a 4.33 guy rather than 4.37. Really Randy Moss lite. I didn’t know anything about him prior to drafting him and first highlight reel I saw of him I immediately thought he looked like Moss. Then I saw the measurables and was like yep. Then I see that he’s drawn that comparison by many scouts and analysts. If he can add consistency and play to the level of his highlights every play then we got an incredible value.
    • During his three years at UGA he only allowed 5 sacks. He is only 21 and is on an upward trajectory. He's a great athlete that was good basketball player in high-school.  His height (76% how is this only 76%???? these guys are giants now), hands (81%), span (99%), speed (96%), quickness (10 yd. 86%), and explosiveness (vert. 96%, broad 97%) are all outstanding.  When we took Freeling, Fano, Mauioga, Proctor, and Miller were all off the board so we could have drafted Iheanachor or Lomu instead or waited to the second or third round to take Bell, Tiernan or Barber or wait even longer.  A lot of these tackles (including the first two taken) project to right tackle or guard in the NFL and that's not what we needed now.  Freeling has some sloppiness to clean up in his run blocking, but he's young and getting better.  We can let him get experience behind Walker and Moton knowing if he has to replace one of the two this year, his pass blocking won't get Bryce killed. Icky's not coming back from that injury as a nfl starting left tackle and Moton is in the twilight of his career.  If Walker has a great year, we will have to pay him a lot and if he is medicore we would want to let him walk.  Getting a LT on a rookie contract is going to help a lot with the cap.
    • It was cool but they have done this at least in recent years unless I am imagining it
