Boxer Pups

I'd rescue one, but its 325$ just to do that. Might as well start out with an emotionally stable pup instead of trying to rehabilitate one for that price.

EDIT: But even then, breeders can easily lie about who fathered the pups. A pedigree is only useful for determining how inbred the animal is. AKC and CKC can both be easily faked. Eh. I'm just looking for a good family pet that's not a mutt and I've never met a boxer I didn't like.

That's why I want to find a responsible breeder.

That's the benefit to some rescue dogs. You can find them crate trained, etc. But really I'd rather go pay 200$-250$ for a pup than take a chance on ending up with a basket case.

I would really rather prefer to rescue one, but a 2 year old dog with emotional issues for 325$ is a bit steep. Especially for a potentially dangerous dog like a boxer. Plus the hoops you have to jump through to rescue, I just don't feel like being scrutinized like that. Its kind of creepy.

EDIT: I understand why its so stringent, they just come across as flakey and hypocritical when they talk about "millions of dogs killed in the US every second" diatribes, then want to make you lift your sack and spread your buttcheeks and pay 325$ to take in an abused/neglected/abandoned animal.

But, the last thing you want is for that animal to be abandoned/abused/neglected again.

True, but if you want a pure bread dog without paying full registered price, that may be the way to go, unless you know someone.

Heh, that's what I'm asking, if someone knows someone. :D

I really want a boxer and I'd rather get one on some kind of personal recommendation. I'm just putting out feelers and weighing my options. Who knows, someone on the Huddle may have a litter, or knows someone that has a litter....

Big message board. :D

For the right dog, I'd be willing to go up to 8 or 9 months old.

EDIT: I'm gonna go ahead and pass on any white boxers. :P

My rescues were only about $100 each and they were about 3 months when we got them. They are both great and don't have any emotional damage, one is just super hyper (Chow/Shephard Mix) and the other is super lazy (Boxer/Rodesian Ridgeback Mix) so the whole getting them in pairs so they play was BS. When I looked around pure breads were anywhere from $300-$1000 and often times it's fake anyway. The first one I got was the last of his litter and locked up all day because he didn't have his shots so he couldn't play with the other puppies. The second one was wandering the streets of Mexico starving, sick, and nearly dead when the adoption agency took it to California. After I adopted the second one they even paid all the vet bills to get him healthy. This is going to sound terribly gay but it makes me feel really good inside when I look at them knowing that I saved their lives and I think they are happier, more loving dogs because they know it too.

I guess the moral would be not to rule out rescues because if you look hard enough you can find a puppy you'll like.
