I don't see how it's punishing the seahawks for being in a weak division. It's entirely their fault that in a division where there is nobody better than 7-9 that they can't get to at least 8-8.

It's not punishment. They have a losing record. If you want any kind of special consideration then you need at worst a .500 record.

If you don't let division winners in.... Then don't have divisions, don't play two games against your division rivals..... And I think that is a horrible idea. The NFL playoffs are great! Don't mess with what isn't broken for something that is very rare in the NFL. Hell I believe an 11-5 Patriots team missed the playoffs one year. That's what happens when you have a lot of good teams... They didn't win enough.

no need to change the current system.

having an underdog in the playoffs (no matter what their record is) makes it all the more exciting.

the seahawks knocking off the defending champions sent the playoff ratings thru the roof.

even the casual fan and media will be paying close attention from here on out.
