A Simple View on Draft Priorities

That doesn't mean we draft a QB if Luck is not there. We need DTs desperately. DW was hurt most of the year, Otah the whole year. Wharton missed a lot. Next year, our Rookies will not be rookies. You don't use the draft to solve statistical problems caused by youth and injuries.

DT is a train wreck. Pressure from the middle will bring out the best in our secondary, DEs, and keep OL off the LBs.

On offense, we need the peices to be in place and depth. If not Luck, we need a veteran.

I agree with you completely. If Luck is there then take him. If not go for a stud DT! In my in my opinion they are the two biggest needs. Our defense isn't terrible. A good DT to pressure the quarterback and cause him to scramble would allow the DE and LB and DB to make more plays. Opposing offenses would go alot more three and outs. Use the remainder of the draft to add depth or as we all know the front office likes to do. Just draft the best available player left. Also use FA to add some veterans to fill the whole. IF Luck stays bring a veteran quarterback like Hill, I like what this guys done this year. Staton hasn't done bad either and Detriot could part ways with him.

I would agree with you if suh was in this draft but their is no SUH in this draft. No Dt in this draft is worth 1 overall.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
