Everyone wants mediocrity out of Carolina but keeping Marshall is ok? Dude wanted a big contract, didn't get it, then did nothing all season to prove he's worth it.

I disagree, I think Marshall has done well this year.

It is hard to truly get a good picture of the defensive backfield performance due to the lack of sustained offensive drives by our offense.

True but it shows our players have faith in our franchise.

For most people from us here on the board posting to high paid athletes, we all want the same thing. Money is number one, once money is taken care of there are several things that we consider in our life choices. The work environment, the city we live in, schools for our families, room for advancement. One thing that can be said about JR and Panthers is that he cares about the players, and he looks after them. Charlotte is a good city. And excluding this year I don't think anyone in the NFL would say that JRs first priority was winning a championship and fielding a competitive team. This upcoming year is going to be exciting and a lot of players will want to take part in that.

I think the thing for our DBs is the scheme our new coach will be wanting to bring in. Our under or over performing players could suddenly find them in an ideal place, or suddenly become a square peg forced into a round hole.

Marshall is an average corner in our system, who has a good drive and determination on the field. Who could become a great corner for our new coach, or a completely wasted roster spot. Personally I feel the new HC needs to be decided (not nec signed) or a scheme set before the majority of our players are offered contracts.

He does not deserve big money. At the moment he is average and deserves no more than average starting corner money.
