wow, yeah where we're from her band fees were right at $500 a year.(4 years) She played in the pit so we didn't need to buy her her own instrument.

Kind of lucky it turned out that way.

The actual band fee is $250. It's all the other stuff that's costing us this year.

The trip to Orlando is right around $800 after my son gets money for food.

Mine went to Atlanta (twice), Ohio and Nashville + all over the state of South Carolina. So yeah you are right, the money adds up.

My oldest is 8 and I've had his 529 going since he was 18 months. I've added a few hundred to it every month. He also has a youth savings account. I give him the $1000 child tax credit from my taxes every year. I've also saved $20 per week every week since he was born. In other words, his cash flow is better than mine. As far as school, we just moved back to NC and he's ridiculously ahead of NC standards. He has been in karate for over a year, has played 3 years of soccer (he averaged over 5 goals per game his first two years... yes, goals per game) and he's played baseball and basketball one year each.

And my youngest... well he's in the oven. Ultrasound in a few weeks.
