Can Cam be coached to be a NFL QB?

Both of them had more then 1 year before their team picked another QB. This is a different situation. If you pick Cam #1 overall I see no reason for Jimmy too be here get what you can for him bring in a vet and Matt Moore. If you keep Jimmy. You have 2 young QB who feel they should be the leader and the face of this team. Cause two camps in the locker room it doesn't work one will be a distraction. If you take Cam you have pretty much told Jimmy his future is not here. It's the same thing if we had taken Luck. Their is only room on a roster for 1 QB of the future.

If you draft Newton you most certainly keep clausen as well. Until one or the other shows he is our franchise guy you keep both and hope at least one of them pans out. if you are going to trade one or the other you would do it in a year or two. At this point we can't keep a QB healthy. Even if one starts over the other, the odds are good both of them will see the field.

Exactly.

Making Cam "Just a Pocket Passer" would be like cutting off his right hand. There's no need in drafting a player with his potential, athleticism, and skill if you're just going to ask him to 3-step drop all the time.

Whatever Coordinator, or QB Coach (Shula) makes the best of Cam's skillsets is what will truly make him into the best.

However, I do agree. Cam is a definite 1-year sit&wait type of QB. Let him learn of the NFL Offense, and his game will truly explode after that.

So to answer your question. Yes, I do believe that Cam can be a great NFL Quarterback. In due time.

The Panthers went 'safe' in drafting Clausen, and while he wasn't given the best of situations to play NFL QB. He definitely made it known that he was shell shocked by playing in the NFL. Refusing to throw deep at times, letting S.Smith making him his bitch, showing no form of gradual improvement throughout out the year. ( I REALLY EMPHASIZE THAT POINT)

Newton will run just enough to dictate a shadow defendor which is what we want

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
