Self-Appraisals at Work

anybody else have to do this bullshit...?

it's getting to be the time of year where we're getting close to our yearly reviews for pay raises and all that good stuff. BUT, before we can do all of that, we have to go through a whole system, grade ourselves on certain criteria based on our jobs and write out our reasoning for each grade. we basically review ourselves.

i've worked for this company for over 10 YEARS and this has never made sense to me. nothing i ever say in these things is EVER brought up in my reviews and they have no impact on the final review that my manager gives me. the company even urges us to use previous self-appraisals (if we're still in the same position as previous years) to help us answer the same questions again a year later. so what the hell is the point? drives me nuts!

    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
    • There is a name for this but I can't put it on the forum.
    • Get off my lawn 😡 Reid coached Vick for a while. It helped, but ultimately Vick was still Vick. One of the maxims I swore by for years was to never sign a free agent QB from Reid's system because they never looked the same anywhere else. Would that apply to Mahomes? 🤔 Difficult to say. I might lean no, but it applied to McNabb. Doubt that theory ever gets a true test, though.
