I have a tendency to get sarcastic in response. But IMO that situation is far more provoked than a benign attempt at discussion, like what has been going on in this board for a while.

I called P55 a hypocrite, at the tail end of a thread, only after he had constantly implied that I was "ignorant". I had been so patient in that thread with him.

You made a veiled reference to me being a "backstabber" a few weeks ago, without me having insulted you at all prior.

Maybe my patience has run dry after all. Because I've tried to have educated debates with people only to have them insult me in the end just because I disagree with them and they can't construct a counter point so they've gotta conclude with a blatant throwout that I'm ignorant with absolutely no evidence.

It's no where near the same. Where has anybody imposed a will by stating theior opinion that you are ignorant? As childish as it sounds, the sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me thing definitely applies to an anonymous message board. 1) Slinging insults on a message board reeks of stupidity. Except when done in retaliation to other insults; then it forms the basis of a well-prepared rebuttal.
