So while looking over our UDFA's I thought to myself this guy seems to have a great frame (6'5, 263lbs.), along with nice athleticism to be groomed into a nice prospect. Considerong DE is a position we're very thin at right now, I hope he pans out. Here's a little bit about him for those who don't/didn't know much about him.

03/15/2011 - Oklahoma State Pro day: DE Ugo Chinasa (6-5, 263) ran 4.70 and 4.65 in the 40. He did the short shuttle in 4.58 and stood on his other combine numbers. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Positives: Attacks the pocket from a two- or three-point stance. Has a strong upper body and uses his arms to shed blocks. Uses his athleticism, quickness and surprising leverage to beat lineman around the corner on a speed rush. Effective stutter-step and swim move for change-up rush moves. Good lateral agility to penetrate the line when twisting with the defensive tackle. Keeps his eyes in the backfield, using length and large hands to knock down passes. Has fluid hips and can drop into coverage quickly for his size. Transitions and accelerates out of his backpedal. Shows great awareness in man coverage and is physical running with tight ends. Stays patient in contain on the back side. Able to spin off blocks and find the ballcarrier in run support. Owns the balance to close quickly on the quarterback with a good burst. Very strong wrap-up tackler, but his upper body strength allows him to get away with arm tackles. Chases down plays that bounce to the outside when his motor is running.

Negatives: Has a very inconsistent motor. Not very explosive off the line and tends to try to get penetration using finesse rather than strength. Plays too high at times, gets stood up at the line. Does not show regular aggression as a pass rusher and often seems indecisive. Struggles to avoid cut blocks. Does not run his legs while engaged. Spin move is ineffective when pass rushing.

Kinda funny, but here is my longshot DE, Undrafted rookie favorite DE--was projected a 5th rounder. Came out early because he did not fit the 3-4 OLB as well as the 4-3 DE. I read somewhere that if he had stayed in school, he was looking at the second/third round in 2012.

6'5" 255 lbs. THOMAS KEISER, DE Stanford

Strengths

Smart, instinctive player. Plays with good discipline, keeping his gap control consistently. Keeps his responsibility on the backside of runs well and squeezes down the lane for the ball carrier to cut back though. Good strength at the POA to anchor and play with good leverage. Strings out plays well to the sideline, and uses his hands well to sheds blocks consistently. Gives great effort as a pass rusher, constantly working after the QB. Has a good rip move and uses his hands well. Good balance turning the corner. Good redirect skills to work underneath once he's past the QB.

Weaknesses

A lunch-pail type player with adequate but not elite athleticism. Lacks the closing speed to make more plays. With his size, he may be restricted in pass coverage in his range with tight hips. A good pass rusher, but he doesn't have a go-to move and needs to improve his technique to be an effective pass rusher at the next level.

Projection

Fifth rounder. A solid player, Keiser should play right away on special teams and be a solid backup. It probably would have been smart for Keiser to have returned for another season at Stanford to improve his draft stock.

I like Keiser cause he has experience chasing around NFL style quarterback's in Andrew Luck. That's all he did in practice haha.

I hear you, 8789. I think 3 to 5 undrafted free agent rookies have a chance to make the team, although a few may be PS bound:

Kendric Burney, CB

Jamorris Warren, WR (will prove to be way better than Adams, IMO)

Thomas Keiser DE (Probably to the PS, but Norwood and Brown are not locks)

Ryan Pugh, C (again, maybe to the PS because we need 3 centers for practice-could be better than Z Williams and Bernadeau at C)
