Ajinca and Singletary to the D-League

FINALLY

The Charlotte Bobcats are sending rookies Alexis Ajinca and Sean Singletary to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA's Developmental League to get a week or so of game experience.

Ajinca and Singletary are expected to start playing with the Skyforce Friday in Reno, Nev. The Bobcats plan to have assistant coach LaSalle Thompson travel with the Skyforce to monitor the rookies' progress.

This is a shift for Bobcats coach Larry Brown, who said previously he felt Ajinca would benefit more from practicing with his NBA team than playing in the D-League. However, neither rookie has played much during the six-game winning streak, with Brown tightening his rotation to about eight players.

i have been waiting for them to send Ajinca to the D-League all season, i hope they leave him there longer than a week though, i don't know what Larry is smoking, but i have to disagree with him on thinking Ajinca benefits more from riding the bench and playing garbage minutes than he would from playing meaningful minutes in the D-League

good move by the Cats

May should come out of the gates pretty fast. I have a feeling this "try-out" might be one of the last legit chances May gets. Hopefully he stays healthy and can contribute 10-12 minutes off the bench.

send May to the D-League.

Overall, a good move by Larry. Sean needs to get some playing time and get his confidence back because the kid can ball and WILL be NBA ready. I like Ajinca's spirit. Did you guys see him throw jab his elbow into Brad Miller and throw the ball at him the other night? Is it just me or is he starting to gain some weight? He looks a little less twiggish. Best case scenario he takes Juwuan Howard's spot next year.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
