Peyton to IR?

I think he is done - colts will have the worst record in the NFL and draft Andrew Luck.

SMH the rich get richer

:iagree:

I hope Peyton isn't out for this year, but I'd rather have him healthy than play with the pain he was in last season.

I don't agree that Bill Polian should have had a plan in place. Peyton has always been on record as to wanting to start and play every game. What other QB would play with a broken jaw in this leaque? Especially when you make your living off of calling audibles?

And in this day and age of salary caps, you can't afford to carry another multi-million dollar QB just to hold the clip board. The 49ers benefited from their Superbowls because they didn't have a cap and their owner was willing to shell out the big bucks to let the backup sit. The 49er's in Joe Montana's days had to sell out every home game, lead the leaque in merchandise AND make it past the 1st round of the playoffs, just to break even on salary! Once Salary caps hit, looked what happened! Dallas was near the same way.

Once the salary cap hit, we have't head anything out of San Fran .

If I were in the Colt's FO shoes, I would go ahead and move Peyton to IR. Even if he makes a complete recovery in time (guessing 2 months, minimum for a neck surgery), he's going to miss enough games at this point, that it's doubtful he would be able to salvage the season.

Then, I'd make a play for David Garrard, and let him start week 2 or 3. Garrard knows the Jags better than Collins is going to know this new Titans team, so he offers more. I also think Garrard isn't washed up like Collins is.

Someone else is seeing what I am here.

Peyton Manning might be out for a long time, and David Garrard might be the best option to replace him.

The Colts have an offense that is almost completely built around quarterback Peyton Manning, but with reports that Manning will miss the season opener and might be out for perhaps the entire season, Indianapolis need to exhaust other options.

One quarterback that suddenly became available is David Garrard, who was unexpectedly released by Jacksonville this week. The 33-year-old would be a sensible replacement for Manning for a variety of reasons.

The Colts rely on an experienced quarterback to direct them, and Garrard has been in the NFL since 2002. He is coming off a season where he completed 64.5 percent of his passes, and was a respectable 13th in quarterback rating at 90.8 -- just a tick below Drew Brees. Garrard had a solid season on a team that lacked a star receiver, and would have much better options in Indianapolis.

Garrard is familiar with the AFC South. Having only played for Jacksonville, Garrard would give the Colts an edge when they play the Jaguars, and Garrard has a strong understanding of Tennessee and Houston as well. Against the Texans last season, Garrard completed 24 passes on 31 attempts for 342 yards and two touchdowns.

Garrard has mobility. While opponents' defensive game plan is to contain Manning, Garrard can beat opponents by scrambling. Last season, he ran for five touchdowns, and 279 yards. The most yards Manning ever ran for was 159, and that was in 2001.

Back in 2007, Garrard proved he can be a star. In 12 starts, he threw 18 touchdown passes, and only had three interceptions, and had a 102.2 quarterback rating to go with it.

I still can't believe the Jags screwed Garrard over like that.

I like that game plan!

Start Collins, let him get roughed up for a few games, then bring in Painter and go Ofer. Then next year, draft Luc, let him carry the clip board for a couple of years until Peyton is ready to hand over the reigns. Then the Dynasty continues!

Oh, did I mention dump Caldwell too!

I DON"T want to go back to the 80's and early 90s! Frank Kush, Rod Dowhower, Bill & Vince Tobin. (We did win the league under Meyers in 1987!)

When Rod Dowhower wsa coach, we went 0-13. Then old man Irsay fired him, brought in Meyers? and we won our last 3 game and lost the #1 over all pick!

Jimmy's just likely to fire Caldwell 1/2 through the season and put in Tressel and he'll win enough of the games to lose out on the #1 overall!
