Too early? (plus some stats)

To buy a Newton jersey? Birthday is coming up next weekend and I feel like replacing my more than worn black Delhomme jersey. Torn between white and black. Is it worth getting the premier jersey or stick with the replica?

On a side note Newton's most impressive statistic last Sunday was against the blitz:

Blitzed 21 times (45.6% of plays) from 46 drop backs

12/17 (70.6%),

231 yards (13.6 y/a),

1 TD, 0 Ints

132.6 QB rating

4 Sacks

If he can continue to identify blitzes and get the ball out quickly to punish them, then teams are going to start to re-think how they approach him.

Haha, I live in the UK so we rarely get many jerseys to pick from if any at all. One thing that Newton has achieved is giving the Panthers some commercial interest. Currently we have the choice of Smith, Peppers, Kenny Moore, Clausen, Matt Moore, Chris Harris and Newton.

Not on any bandwagon and never will be. Even if Newton bombs from here on I still will be happy to wear his jersey.

Is it to early for me to buy a Christmas sweater? I know it's a few months away but I just love being to go in my closet in the morning and here those cute bells jingle when I wiggle the shirt.

Positive Stats:

3.61% more likely to talk to a senoir citizen when grocery shopping.

1.4% more likely to get away with hitting "Over 65" on Thursdays at HT for the senior discount

Negative Stats:

184% MORE Likely to have a bell fall off before December 25th.

WTF should I do??

I asked if getting the premier jersey is worth it over the replica. Having only ever had replica jerseys I have no idea.

Considering I am from the UK I have also never had the option of anything other than black Delhomme jersers, so thought it might be an idea to ask people who likely to have several types.

You tried really hard with your response to be funny and belittling, it failed.

Knowing that there are people like you who are only interested in chucking in your 'funny' comments, I also listed some statistics that most would not have been aware of from Newton. Please let me know if you didn't find it interesting how well against he blitz he did.

    • XL could easily be the last dog at the bowl for WR production next year.  That could leave him around 200-300 yards which would be disastrous.
    • Well sure, that's where the disconnect is then. If Thielen only gets 300-400 yards and T-Mac is healthy for the full season, then I'm with you guys, in that scenario there is absolutely zero excuse for him to not put up over 1,000 yards.   In fact, I'll let you double that, if Thielen has only 600 yards, then again, my expectations are for T-Mac to surpass the 1k mark with ease. But his game has never been about his physical abilities, so even if he loses a half a step, he's still the same player who is a savvy route runner who will get open and Bryce will continue to find him due to their chemistry.  Particularly since Bryce isn't a QB who forces things, he takes what the defense gives him.  So when teams focus on T-Mac and Thielen is more free to find those holes in the defense than he has the last two years, I don't think Bryce is going to ignore him. If someone wants to argue for T-Mac getting to 1,000 yards, personally, I'd say those yards would be far more likelier to come from XL and Coker than Thielen.  And that has nothing to do with XL or Coker, but that I'm still a firm believer in Thielen being able to still get 50-60 yards a game, again, particularly as he'll have less defensive attention on him than in either of his 2 seasons with us so far. Just because T-Mac is our #1 of the future who will have the ball forced to him at times, doesn't mean he needs to be forced into that role from day 1 when we have 3 very legitimate WR options next to him. Let the rookie grow into the role and the NFL game, we have that ability to do so because of Thielen, XL, and Coker.
    • Spot on. He's only 20 and his height 6'2 and weight 230lbs might make him more of an off-ball LB possibility. He's a multi-year project
