Like I said before, if u research Cam, u will see that he was the QB who was used by a college team according to their needs. Cam ran a lot more than he threw because that is the capacity inwhich they used him. So not surprised that he isn't Jimmy Clausen accurate at the moment.

Pre-season vs regular season. Not college vs NFL. Cam was still at 40% in the pre-season.

That's what's.....still, unexplainable.

Malzahn built the offense around Cam's strengths. the year before, his offense with Chris Todd at QB looked nothing like what he was running with Cam at QB. the same goes for Barret Trotter running it this year.

he completed nearly 70% of his passes at Auburn, so i'm not sure where the draft "experts" were getting these accuracy issues. if he was dinking and dunking it in a spread offense, i could see where they might have concerns, but a vertical passing game's a huge part of Malzahn's offense.

tbh, Chud's offense reminds me a lot of what Cam was asked to do under Malzahn.

I don't think its inexplicable at all........

Good thread OP.

I don't understand why people are already up in arms about Cam based on preseason.

Cam looks like a rookie he's up and down.

What's more you can't really tell how Cam looks because we don't know this coaching staff's M.O. when it comes to preseason.

Are they gameplanning a lot or a little?

Are they trying to work on something specific in the preseason games or are they trying to win games/look good?

I'm a Redskins fan and under Joe Gibbs preseason meant less then nothing.

Gibbs didn't gameplan and everbody looked like they stunk.

With preseason you just never know.

Cam might be ahead of schedule or could be woefully behind.

We won't know until a real game is played.

I've seen Cam make/complete more "NFL" type throws downfield (skinny post, deep comeback, corner route, vertical seam, go route) then the other rookie QBs and for me that's a good for preseason.

Cam displayed the ability to make throws that an OC can build an offense around.

Makes sense if that's what really happened, but no one knows for sure if they game planned or not. Not sure how much game planning has to do with his personal accuracy though.
Oh, I agree I don't think gameplanning has anything to do with personal accuracy.

But to my eye Cam's accuracy was fine during preseason.

Its his completion percentage. (which is what you were referencing) that was low and completion % is greatly effected by gameplanning and decision making.

Cam's passing at AU was the story of two seasons.

The first half of the season through the LSU game we ran him a LOT. He was rushing for 150 to almost 200 a game. He was close to breaking the ALL TIME SEC RECORD for a qb midway through the season in rushing. His passing was solid, there wasn't that much of it, but he still led the nation in passing efficiency. After the LSU game (I believe his 4th consecutive 100 yard game rushing), teams decided the only thing they cared about was stopping Cam's rushing. So he started throwing for 250-300 a game with an absurdly high completion percentage and number of TDs. Hell he led the nation in passing efficiency pretty much all year and fell to 2nd after the BCSNCG.

The idiot talking heads and jealous haters that didn't like the way Cam made their team look silly tried to latch onto accuracy problems after he didn't have the greatest performance at the NFL combine. However it was with receivers he had never thrown to before and the other top qb's like Gabbert didn't even participate because it never makes QBs look good. Then at his proday, Cam was basically PERFECT with his accuracy throwing to AU receivers and that is when he became a lock to go in the top 3 in the draft.

This is exactly why people questioned Cam's accuracy. When teams were selling out to stop his running, it was easy to find a wide open WR.

The tag on the bottom, "will he finally make Carolina relevent?". It pisses me off that the NFL and fans have forgotten that for 6-7years, until last year, we were thought of as at least a dangerous team if not a favorite.

I guarantee you i haven't forgotten. Just really really needed a decent QB honestly. 3 key injuries for the season doesn't help though.
