Byron Bell

Today wasn't even about the pass though. Bell got manhandled by Bowers all game. In the 4th quarter he let Bowers by so easy he almost got the RB killed both times. I don't care about stats but you can't completely ignore them either. However, even without stats, you could see Bell had a bad game today.

You're focusing too much on a couple of plays you deemed critical. Bell played quite well today for the most part. I think a lot of problems posters here have is that Panthers football is the only football they watch critically. I suggest watching other teams play, you'll see that no QB get's 8+ seconds to throw the ball.

Or 5. Or usually even 3. Pancake blocks aren't the measuring stick if an OL isn't playing well. Bell does a good job of keeping the DE on the outside and creating a pocket for Cam to step in. The difference in the success of the OL today compared to previous weeks is that Tampa wasn't able to maul the interior of the line, which gave Cam room to actually step into those throws-something he isn't able to do when the middle of our line is getting abused, like at Det for instance.

A backup defensive end had 8 tackles, 5 for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. It wasn't a few plays. Were all of them Bell's fault? Of course not. But week after week, the guy he goes up against is having a big game.
