Yeah, that`s what they said about Steve Smith too. Too small blah blah blah!

He was a running back out of high school but the coaches saw how he ran routes and moved him in the slot. I recommend you seriously go online and check out youtube on all his slot receiver videos and then tell me what you think. Was 2nd in the nation in TD`s for 2010 season.

Not really concerned with the TD production. Playing for Hawaii skews those numbers as they are extremely pass heavy against somewhat suspect competition at times. Was Greg Salas the one who beat him for most? In any case, what impressed me was how he runs like a playmaking scat back after he makes the catch. He moves like Smitty. I don't think he has the same intensity, but he may have very similar ability and I hope he gets his shot. I don't feel this kind of potential with anyone else on our receiving corps.

And Michael Bates was an amazing receiver.

Nice analogy though. Because Steve Smith is a good receiver obviously anybody that has 2 good returns in their career will be a great receiver. That is great insight.

I agree. Line him up in the slot and give him some reps. He`s quick and reads defenses really well. His YAC is what he does best. He`s like a Smitty and Davone Bess rolled in one. Maybe not blazing speed but he can get open and chew up chunks of yardage. I really hope the coaches are smart and can see this..

Look at what he did at Hawaii. He was an awesome receiver. Do some research and learn a thing or two. Still thing he will only be our #5 receiver though.

I saw a #2 this week also. Kid does show potential as a KR. But, IF Gettis is legit, he is no better than #4 at WR. So he is not going to get much playing time at WR. If he is to have a career here in Charlotte, he better excel in the ST department, especially as a KRer.

Not to mention his hammy. He has an uphill battle as it is, now he is slowed by an injury. IF Gettis is legit, the Panthers are not going to invest much into the #4 or #5 WR. Pilares may be showing improvement, which I am excited to see, because the chances are limited for a player in his position.

Short story long. His only chance at becoming a Smitty clone is to make himself irreplacable as a KR, as well as coverage teams ace. Allowing him to stick around long enough to some day show he has the talent to play WR.

I wish him well, and GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!
