Going to Vegas today

My girlfriend lives in Henderson, about 30 miles outside of Vegas. It's where she grew up and she just moved back a month ago to finish her school degree since she didn't have residency in CA.

I visited her last weekend and we stayed a night on the strip since I have never been there. My impression was mostly that it was highly overrated. Fun? Sure. I just don't buy into the glitz & glam of it. Also, the more money you bring the better, especially if you plan on drinking on the main strip.

There is no doubt that Vegas is a money-trap. If I bring $1,000, I spend $1,000. If I brink $7K, I spend $7K. Luckily, I almost always seem to hit at the craps tables so I come back home with some money.

Make sure if you play craps to always max out your odds behind your pass line bet. Most tables it is 3, 4, 0r 5x, depending on if the point number is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If you don't maz your odds, you are killing yourself and should leave the table. Also, when the waitress comes by, give her at least a $5 chip the first time she comes. This will ensure that she comes back very frequently, which you can then start giving her a buck a drink.

If you want to do bottle service, but don't feel like paying $2K minimum, go to the Foundation Room at Mandelay Bay. It has an amazing view of the strip, and you can get 2 bottles on most nights for like $400, which is a killer deal as far as vegas goes.

If you'd like a cheap activity, just walk the strip with one of those yard margaritas. The great thing? Most places will put $1 floaters in of any liquor you want. I get a mai tai and put three or 4 151 floaters in and I'm tanked for $27. Can't beat that.

Not necessarily directed at SouthCak, just giving tips out for anyone that hasn't been.

Good stuff....I haven't been out there in 4 years. Went with a few guys last time with endless money so it made for a great trip. This time around I am going with 3 guys that have never been. Me and another guy are bringing $2,500 each, the other two are bringing about $750 each which becomes a bit of a conflict because I am not carrying their a$$ when they realize they didn't bring enough $.

Anyway, any good tips on "cheaper" places to go as far as nightlife, strip clubs, bars in general, places to eat, etc...?

Like I said before, The Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay is a lounge, but it feels just like a club with no dance floor. If you and all your buddies go in on a bottle, you can usually get them very cheap there, and you get a similar experience as the more popular places, just way cheaper.

I really like both Sapphire and Spearmint Rhino for strip clubs. $20 will get you a pretty good lap dance at either, and $150 will get you.........alright I'm married so next question.

The best place IMO to go for really good food at regular restaurant (not Vegas restaurant) prices is Holstein's inside Cosmopolitan. You can get huge burgers any way you want and it'll only set you back $8-$10 a burger, plus they have a pretty impressive beer selection.

The Burger Bar inside Mandalay Bay is also good, and similarly priced to Holstein's.

There is a hoffbrau(sp?) right across from Hard Rock, so if that's where you are staying I highly suggest you do the majority of your dining there. There is also a little shopping center across the street that has a CVS or Rite Aid (can't remember which) so you can go there and buy munchies and liquor and take it back to your room. That shopping center also has a deli that makes 12" sammies for like $6, so you can eat there frequently without having to cab it (which REALLY adds up).

Just fair warning, there are a lot of douchebags at Hard Rock. It's pretty much the Jersey Shore of Vegas. I mean don't get me wrong, Rehab (the pool) has a lot of great scenery, but the dudes looking to find drunk chicks far outnumber the actual drunk chicks.

Don't go to Minus 5 (the ice bar), it isn't worth it. You have to pay like $30 to get in, and buy overpriced drinks and you can't even take pictures, you have to take the ones they provide (for a charge, of course).

It is pretty expensive, but my favorite clubs are XS and Surrender, at the Wynn and Encore. 3 drinks will cost you $60+, but you can stay near the back bar and play craps and get free drinks from the cocktail waitresses. Also Blush is a cheap lounge inside Encore. I got to party with Gary Busey there last year. Pure is great, and I'm also fond of Marquee (but only if you have a table, don't ever, ever wait in that line. EVER.)

4 dudes don't typically go see shows in Vegas, but I recommend the Mob Museum, it is as badass as it sounds.

My close friend is the lead concierge at Bellagio and she loves clubs, so she gets me into every one so I have a pretty solid knowledge of which ones suck and which ones don't.

If you end up going to Spearmint Rhino and see Brandi or Crystal (they do shows together and are like BFF's) tell them Evol from Fremont says hi, maybe you'll get some free lapdances. I used to drive them around and do their security when they did private shows for an outfit here in Northern Cali. Crystal has Dreamgirl tattooed on her lower back, and Brandi has a Lioness head on the back of her shoulder. They might be back here in the bay, but they both worked there still the last time I went.

Last, but not least, if a woman that looks too hot to be into you comes up to you when you are winning at the tables, she is a hooker and should be treated accordingly. Fair warning.

:cheers2:

Have a blast!

Good stuff Monsta. I'm out here about 5-6 times a year. All for business purposes so I'm fairly low key. My strip club and clubbin days are about a decade behind me now. I brought the wife out here on my last trip and we took some clients out to Del Friscos then somehow ended up at Carnival Court at Harrahs. Kind of a lame place but they had a decent cover band and we ended up getting completely sh*t faced. The bartenders are pretty damned talented, that's about all I remember. The pictures from that night are almost "Hangover" like. There's several pictures of me in my suit with my arms around some strange frigging people. No recollection of that night.

How is it out there during the week right now Southcak? Anything much going on? Are the pools even open or is it not warm enough yet?

Right now it is low 60's during the day and low 40's at night. Nothing at the pools except Canadians. Strip seemed really quite last night. Planet Hollywood was dead. I had a long day of travel and was tired so ended up at PBR Rock Bar here in PH for dinner. Decent place but a bunch of douchebags riding the mechanical bull drove me away.

Thanks, let me know if you run across anything good going on right now that you can recommend.

ps....can you check the going rate of a hooker for me? Not the high dollar ones... just one of those still stuck in the 80's types. Thanks
