After watching everyone on here make their picks, I decided to throw my hat in the ring and give it a shot. No long explanations, just kept it simple. Here we go....

Round 1 (9th Overall)

Quinton Coples - DE

Big, physical Pass rusher that would be an immidiate upgrade to our defensive line.

2nd Round (40th Overall)

Trumaine Johnson - CB

Playmaker with Good size at 6-2 that could be a shut down Corner opposite of Chris Gamble.

3rd Round (87th Overall from Denver) Trade for J-Stew

Kyle Wilber - OLB

Relentless Attitude, big time player at 6-4 that played DE in high School and converted to LB.

4th Round (104th Overall)

Brandon Taylor - SS

Three year starter at LSU, Strong physical tackler that could compete to be the starting safety.

5th Round (143rd Overall)

Jaye Howard - DT

65 Tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Gators in 2011, Howard was a force on the Defense Line.

6th Round (180th Overall)

Desmond Wynn - OG

At 6-6, 303 lbs what's not to like. Played both left and right guard at Rutgers.

6th Round (207th Overall)

Darius Fleming - OLB

Would be a project at OLB but shows promise with his athleticism. Would be an immediate impact in ST.

7th Round (216th Overall)

Drew Butler - P

Carolina finds Jason Baker's replacement.

Decent draft. Like the Coples pick.

If there are Johnson is the bpa then I'm fine with this.

We should go for someone like Joe Adams if we trade Stew for a 3rd but our LB corps needs depth so I guess its not a bad pick.

Taylor is talented but not sure if he''l play now, seems more a ST player for us.

I like the rest of the picks.

    • Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it.  Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center?  I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie.  It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2.  I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35.  However, are we solid at Center in your view?
    • Couldn't agree more, Kooch is erratic and Freddy is fragile, maybe save the remaining cap space for a goalie stud at the deadline
    • There is one play that sold me-- it was around 2:38, I think.  It was 4th and 1 and the QB telegraphed and threw the ball out wide to TMac.  He had no blocking (the TE was very late) and four defenders collapsed on TMac behind the LOS. They seemed to know it was coming.  He got hit behind the LOS and battled through several hits to get three yards.  THAT play showed me his fire.
