2012 Dodgers Thread

Wow, had to drop in and talk about Matt Kemp. Guy is playing like superman right now. 9 homers already, like a .474 avg over 20 rbi.... get out of here.

It was funny as hell to parallel the roid using bastard the East Coast bias gave the MVP last year to when the Dodgers were in Milwaukee a few days ago.

Braun .265 with a couple home runs.

Kemp .474, 9 home runs and 22 ribbies. And another Gold Glove no doubt.

27 will not be ripped off in 2012.

Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw looks to have another outstanding year again throwing 7 shutout innings today.

IMHO the 2 best young players in the Major Leagues today. Once new ownership fully takes over and spends some Philly type payroll money come the trade deadline and next offseason the Dodgers should really be a powerhouse again.

Meanwhile this 12-3 start is something else.

Go Blue!

Matt Kemp is seriously unreal. I can't wrap my head around just how dominant he has been so far. Having a Bonds type year. Yeah yeah yeah, it's still early and he will definitely regress, but still.

Damn shame the Nats game got postponed today(I'm a Nats fan not Dodgers), as it pushes Strasburg's start back a day. Now it will be Detwiler vs. Kershaw on Friday :( Stras and Kershaw will be competing for the CY Young every year for the next several years. Count it.

MLB's current best lefty vs. future best righty would have been a helluva battle.

Kershaw goes 8 solid innings for the W tonight, Matt Kemp adds 2 more hits to keep his average North of .450.

One potentially very big move for the Dodgers tonight. Young Flame Thrower Kenley Jansen got his 1st save of the year. Manager Don Mattingly handed the ball to Kenley after Javie Guerra blew his 2nd save of the season Wednesday night. Dodger fans still haven't recovered from the trauma of "Line Drive" Broxton's almost single handed destruction of past late Summer campaigns. Good luck 74!

*Sigh*

The Dodgers have 10 losses this year so far.

Javy Guerra has 3 losses and 3 blown saves, blowing another one today.

There's a fugging MLB section with a Dodgers thread? How come nobody ever notified me?

Are any of you guys from LA or actual Dodger fans?

I'm not really a huge fan, but I don't hate them either. I love how Kemp is playing and what he brings to the game.

    • Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together.  His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue.   He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well).  Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage.  Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck.  He's not unrefined by any means.   If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette.  And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play.  But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent.  What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc.  How to play against these tackles as a game progresses.   Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length.  When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited.  Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
    • Scourton may not get double digit sacks, but he won't be a liability on every other down
