Ok here is a question for you. A rookie goes to training center to get ready for the combine. Goes to the combine visits teams and then after he is traded has minicamp practice. Once they get draft they have to move to the city that drated them and find a place to live. They dont sign a contract til training camp so how do they live for those 7 months without getting a paycheck?

I know the combine the NFL pays for their travel and teams will pay for the move to the city they are drafted.

Yeah I think Murph is right, agents or sometimes even banks give the high profile guys loans based on their future contracts.

I remember one high profile guy, Sanchez maybe, talking about some nice car he has and I was thinking...hmmm...how did he afford that being a college kid, not coming from a rich family and likely not having any kind of employment over his career in college?

(Probably hush money from Reggie Bush...lol)

I bet the agents do charge something, Squirrel, but it might not be as bad as a bank would charge. And certainly, the agent might be their only option if they aren't a high profile guy.

There's a current agent named Jack Bechta who writes for National Football Post. Perhaps that would be a question he would answer on one of his article's blogs.

    • Bryce is like Jerry Seinfeld.  Bad jokes, very limited on screen charisma, and a bad actor.  But they surrounded him with the greatest supporting cast of all time (writing included) and you can name the show after the guy.  Unfortunately QB does not work that way.
    • I just feel like TE is an excuse to the BPA rule, unless you really just have NOBODY at TE, which I personally don't feel is the case for us with the 3 we have right now. Even if you were to say a TE was our actual top ranked player on the board when our 1st round pick is on the clock, I can't see it being such a big gap between him and players at positions of more of a need to where it's then a dumb decision to not take the highest ranked player left on the board. Because yes, a game changing TE can really change your team, but at the same time, it also is the least important position in today's game, since realistically the best TEs are really just big WRs these days anyways, so if you have a good enough WR (and RB) room, TE becomes less of a need. I also think if Coker and Horn Jr pan out, XL could be used in more of a TE type of role where we line him up in the slot and hope to get favorable matchups against smaller DBs or slower LBs.
