How Can Loomis Be Working On Contracts If He Is Suspended?

Recommended Posts

Not even goodell could help those incompetent idiots sign brees. They've only had over a year to do so.

very true--

but at the same time I see their dilemma,

it's either:

A) Keep Brees but have very limited funds for other core players/role players

B) Lose Brees and have better players elsewhere....NOT AN OPTION.

Well if they were trying to keep brees and pay him what he's asking for maybe they shouldn't have been handing out contracts to free agents this offseason like it was the lottery lol.

Oops guys, did we forget drew, poo ohwell maybe next year!

I think in their mindset they were trying to show Brees that they would still attempt to put a serviceable team around him even with the loss of free agents (nicks + meachem) and the suspensions that would have been doled out. Brees will NOT hold out. He is getting way too short on years and the money is too good to pass up, even if he gets tagged. I do think it would have been hilarious if Goodell took away their franchise tag along with those 2 picks as punishment for the scandals.

    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
    • I think it's because we've had a player to hate on NO (Breese) and Atl (Ryan) while Tampa had Winston who was never really a threat or dislikable like the other 2
    • yeah. it was also reported that Brown was taking it light today because of oblique soreness. Sounds like the 2 of them were a bit too rough with each other for practice.
