D'lo and Stewart are the shit...

One of the baddest things about being a truck driver is that I miss all of my games. I have sattellite radio, but I have basically missed my boy Deangelo's breakout season. When I come home to Memphis I watch the replays, but it isn't the same as watching them live. Just saw the game and Deangelo has changed... I mean, John Fox has turned him into a special, special back. He has turned him into a man on the football field. There is no doubt that Deangelo could have put up huge numbers right away, but he wasn't drafted by the right team. He never was a "power" guy. He could have been drafted by a finesse running team and put up huge numbers, but he was drafted by a coach who's philosophy is power football, and he never fit that mold. Somehow, he adapted to his environment and got stronger this past summer. He was always strong(he won the iron man award at the U of M, for being one of the strongest guys on the team), but never like this. He never ran strong. He has transformed into a freakish talent. He no longer tries to dance and make people miss. He is flat foot running over people now. That run when he ran over the safety and sprinted 40 yards I damn near cried. I don't know who he is anymore. I am glad to see it though... He has this Emmitt Smith/OJ Simpson thing going on. Just got back in Memphis Friday morning and I am late to the party about the nickname craze and I wanted to throw out The Tiger & Duck Express, or The Tiger & Mighty Duck Express. I think it is pretty cool and simple... Lol, those names on the Charlotte Observer are corny... Anyway, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in... Oh, one more thing.. Jonathan Stewart is the sh*t... The Deangelo Williams/ Adrian Peterson comparison isn't really fair. I think the question is, is Jonathan Stewart better than Adrian Peterson... I think Deangelo is one of the top two or 3 backs in the league and I think Stewart is probably one of the 4 most talented running backs in this league... He is waaaay better than Stephen Jackson... That is a matter of opinion, but hey.... Oh, and how in the hell do I put a picture in my aviator, lol... I can't figure it out, lol...

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
