So you're saying because we swept them last year that its automatic we'll sweep them again since the same wins the year before are always guaranteed?

Never said anything even remotely close to that. I go by talent, we had more talent than them last year, sweeping them is just evidence of this. But go ahead and pick us to lose to the Saints as well as the Redskins and Jets.

And they traded this years second for Jeremy Shockey and this years third Jonathan Vilma in case you forgot.

Oh you mean those same players they had last year when they finished dead last in the NFC South?

Oh you mean that same team that lead the league with the most amount of players on IR? Im pretty that had something to do with their 8-8 record. They very easily could have split with us and if it wasnt for a fluke 50 yard hail mary pass that Jake threw up to Smith in triple coverage then they would have. The saints are a very talented team. They still had the #1 offense in the NFL even with all the injuries. Their problems were on defense. They have added some nice pieces with Darren Sharper, Dan Morgan, Malcom Jenkins, and Jabari Greer. Teams change from year to year. Just because new Orleans, New York, and Washington underachieved last year doesnt mean they will this year too. And Just because the panthers went to the playoffs last year doesnt mean they will again this year. You're putting too much of an emphasis on last year.

He threw up a prayer in triple coverage and Steve Smith made a miracle catch and bailed him out. It wasnt a clutch play. Alot of it was luck! The point is the saints very easily could have won that game. If you think its automatic that we'll sweep them again just because it happened last year then its clear you dont have a clue. Stop being a homer and just try to look at things objectively once in a while. The saints are a good team and our schedule is loaded with even more good teams.

Again you keep trying to put words in my mouth. I never said it's automatic that we'd sweep them again because it happened last year. I never said it's automatic for any reason. Let me go over this again, very slowly for you...

We are predicting what is going to happen based on likelyhood, nothing is ever automatic in football. I don't copy over what happened last year, I merely use it as a guide to judge talent. And a solid well rounded team with more talent is more likely to beat a team with less talent that has a large weakness.

Are you following this? Or do you still think it's more likely the Jets will beat us week 12? Who is the Jets QB going to be? I don't know. I don't think the Jets know either.

You keep bringing up that we swept the saints last year so I shouldnt pick them to beat us at all this year. So its pretty clear you think what happens last year automically transfers over into the next. I didnt say it was most likely that the Jets will beat us. I could see us winning that game but I dont think we will. The jets have a great defense and they have nice weapons on offense. Yeah I know who their QB is... its Mark Sanchez. Teams have won with rookie qbs you realize I hope. Remember the ass whooping the falcons put on us with a rookie QB? Remember the ravens going to the afc title game with a rookie QB? Like you said, we are making predictions and I am predicting that the Jets are going to be pretty good.

Is it really that hard to understand that you just use last year as a guide to judge talent, not carry over what happened?

So you think it's more likely the Panthers will win, but pick them to lose anyway? Or do you think it's exactly 50/50?

Yeah I know who their QB is... its Mark Sanchez.

Ah a rookie with 1 year starting experience in college. If Sanchez is starting by week 12, and that's very possible, I can almost guarantee that we will be heavy favorites in that game. Does that mean it's an automatic W? Of course not, but a win is a hell of a lot more likely than not.

Not when you are predicting games vs division opponents. Anything can happen in those games. Like it or not, the saints are a good football team that had alot of injuries and we were very fortunate to beat them in our second meeting at the end of the year. It would be foolish to assume that we are just going to sweep them again just because we did it last year.

I dont think its more likely we would win that game. Maybe 50/50 but I would give the edge to New York since its a home game for them and it will be a cold december game. Would you like to put money that barring a major injury to the jets that they will be favored in that game? I guarantee you the panthers will not be favored and they sure as hell wont be "heavy" favorites either.

That would be foolish, I'm glad I'm not doing that. I don't think this fact has yet sunk in with you however.

I can see why you pick us to have a losing record, though. From your perspective, we win games by throwing a "prayer" "hail mary pass" that is a "fluke" and "alot of it was luck" I guess our players all had horseshoes up their ass last year. Takes a LOT of luck to go 12-4

    • and they don’t get paid and teams don’t keep playing them
    • Then if he needs time to grow up and he is going to sign an extension in needs to be a 3 year, 20m AAV. He doesn't deserve to get paid like a top 10 QB right now because he's not. Daniel Jones is getting 14m and is playing top notch football.  He may have had some better games, but his mechanics and footwork are still terrible when he feels any pressure, real or not. When he feels good, he steps into his throws like he should. When he doesn't, it's that body squared up or jumping arm toss or tip toe lob. His fumbling is a huge problem. He cant run QB sneaks. He cant really play from under center because his drop backs are terrible and he needs to be far back to get enough gapping to see the field. That's not top 10 QB contract worthy.  And let's not pretend that Bryce is some victim in all of this. Remember him packing on 20 lbs before the combine for the weigh in and walking around in a hoodie the entire time or practicing that S2 test that no one has mentioned before or since so he'd have better results, or riding that hype train like the wheels weren't ever going to fall off. Stroud got roasted and torn apart because of a "leaked" S2 result. He was being portrayed as an idiot while Bryce was being portrayed as a savant. All Stroud ever said was watch me play football. He proved his point.  Bryce did everything he could to make himself the number 1 overall pick and when that happens, guess where you're going? To a bad team, likely with a new coach and it's probably going to be full of dysfunction especially if the owner is Dave Tepper. But the real dysfunction came because Bryce wasn't Reich's choice for QB. He wanted Stroud because Stroud fit the type of offense he ran better than Bryce ever could. That's why he lost interest as soon as he was drafted. He was forced to play Bryce when it was obvious he wasn't ready to show off Tepper's shiny new draft pick. No HC is going to come to a team when he gets no choice over who he has as a QB to build around and he has to reinvent the wheel when the easiest thing to do was just buy the wheel that fit to begin with. Tepper lied to Reich all the way up until draft day, then he made that pick. Then Reich checked out, and i don't blame him one bit. And I'll be clear, I didn't want Reich. I wanted Steichen because of what he's doing in Indy or Ryans because I thought he would make one hell of a leader and HC.  Reich was a HC with no control over his own team. I put the majority of what's gone wrong involving Bryce on Tepper. The trade gave up too much in picks and DJ to build around him, we had a horrid GM who couldn't draft or build a roster, a QB forced to play before he's ready, an owner that thinks he knows more than football people.    There's a lot of moving pieces in all of this, but we cant pay Bryce 50m AAV at the end of this season while he figures it out, and the 5th year doesnt make sense either if we're a run heavy offense with Bryce as game manager. You dont need a 30m, 5th year option QB for that. If he's not there developmentally, he's not there.  Unfortunately, there isnt time to just calm down. He plays like a game manager this year and we have to move on. You dont give game managers huge contracts behind the highest paid oline in football, especially when you need to sign your LT. Any journeyman can give us Bryce level results for 15m less per year. Just the way it is. If there was more time, maybe. Unfortunately there isn't. Just the way it is.
    • We’ve had opportunities to take 2 of the top 5 Cs in the game and instead we took TMJ and Johnathan Brooks. Our drafts since 2017 have been 1 player per draft and then huge misses on lots of really good NFL players (who the huddle have talk about in the draft threads). It’s been mentioned here so many times to draft more OL once you get to the 2nd and beyond since C/G talent is top tier in day 2 and lots of surprise day 3 guys. Taking Brooks over Frazier just looks worse and worse as our OL helps Chuba and Rico look great and Frazier would be a large improvement over Mays.
