Smitty's foot infection

God

Since we're all beating this to death, I'll add one more thought...

We all love Smitty and know what he means to the team, but he has always been a little bit of a drama queen. It usually is something like this (last year it was his cut hand), and seems to happen just about every year in camp. Maybe the doc tells him to stay off his foot as much as possible, and in his own inimitable way, Steve decides to make a public appearance on crutches.

Panther nation goes into panic mode, we are all reminded of how important Steve is, he makes a nice recovery, and goes on to be the beast on the field we have come to expect.

Think I'm making all this up? One of our beat guys (probably Gantt) talked about this last year. Steve's got a little diva in him.

His foot was swollen, I'm pretty sure it would be painful as hell to walk on that foot.. Seriously doubt the crutches were for show.

And they probably weren't just for show. The point was just that he has a bit of a rep when it comes to these types of preseason injuries, and he is probably enjoying every bit of the attention.

That is great to hear. He would not have Layed in game 4 anyway. So, better safe than sorry in giving him plenty if antibiotics and rest. Likeany injuries or issues, rushing back too quickly can often lead to another flare up

Glad to get to see more of the young guys in the next two games anyway.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
