Honestly they should have just traded back. The best they could do in a trade is probably a 2nd now -

Bengals are a notoriously cheap franchise. When they were pursuing Tony Siragusa as a free agent, they provided him with a coach plane ticket. Players were responsible for their own soap and toiletry items. None would be provided by the team. They are content to underpay their best defensive player with what amounts to a short term prove it type deal. The offset language at issue in the contract has not been included in their previous contracts, so it certainly sounds like buyer remorse. -
