Cam Newton, plus Tolbert, plus random RB...= better rushing attack than 90% of the NFL.

Funny thing is.....adding Double Trouble does what exactly? A slight bump? But look at the comical cost for the tiny bump..

some random runningback huh, so now you want to get rid of both and have to shell out 10 mill a year for nothing?

Ive been pulling for Williams all season and my twitter account proves that. So you would rather pay out close 5 mill a year for nothing instead of keeping him for 5 mill a year? If you say yeah then you are a troll, if you think Stewart can carry the.team then you wish death upon our constant play off hopes.

I have a problem with alot of people on this board over looking Stewbie's injury history. They act like you are making stuff up. When I saw the two backs from Alabama last night, I was thinking you should never pay two backs that kind of money. Pay one, let one walk, and draft another. When the time comes do the same with those backs financially. I like Stewart's game, but he has not played a full season. A thirty-five million dollar contract should require at least two healthy seasons out of a back.

but all moves aren't made with just 2013 in mind...

new GM has to look at 2014 and beyond. I think most big moves made won't be about 2013...but more with 2014 in mind. We need to get rid of the investment at RB....big pictuire of the next couple seasons it makes sense.

If you would looking at what is best in 2014 then you would keep Williams in 2013, and dump him in 2014. That way the cap hit is only 6.4 million and if you used it as a June 1st cut, you would have 3.2 million as a cut in 2014 instead of 5 million if you cut him this year and you would have 3.2 million in 2015 as dead cap space.

You guys are willing to out your quarterback n harms way because you think he can take it? Wow, I want cam to put up 20x the passing yards over rushing. He is a quarterback and taking abuse year after year will take a toll, look at Peyton and then look at Warwick Dunn, they both had neck injuries and I don't want that for a franchise qb.

I'd rather have neither than both.

We have to start correcting our mess. Name 3 teams in the NFL whose top 2 RBs produced less rushing offense in the NFL.

Would you want Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson on the same team if they were only allowed on the field together for 2 snaps a game? Or would you rather have Megatron and use Andre's cash to get another player that can play every down with Megatron.

yea good luck with Stewart being a premiere ba k, when given the chance this year he couldn't hold up. With all of the injuries he's had, his body has taken more of a beating than Williams who is battle tested.

all of you will be crying like schmucks if we make it to the playoffs and Stewart gets hurt the last game and we will have to rely on bacon back Tolbert.

ah, not so sure about that... up until this year Stewart only missed 2 or 3 games throughout his career.. DWill being "battled tested" involves being on IR 2 out of the last 3 years..

I only remember one year and Stewart was on injured reserve too if you remember correctly, that year goodson came in an got the offense going with his 3 consecutive 100 yard games because both were injured the deangelo came back and got his 100 yard games. So I think you are mistaken.

I would rather have a coach that knows how to run the damn ball but I guess you would like cam to run 70% of the load.

it seems we both were mistaken.. Stewart came back to take over duties from Goodson.. DWill may have only been on IR once..

before this year Stewart only missed 2 games since 2008.. DWill much more, but it seems Stewart caught up with him towards the end of this season dealing with that high ankle sprain.. Which was more of a freak accident.

Since Hurney jammed us up with DWill's contract, we'll see how it turns out.. I would have no problem had we let Williams go in favor of a Stewart/Tolbert backfield though.

DWill has been on IR twice, Stewart 0.

I'm trying to figure when has Stewart carried the load for an entire season or even 3/4 of a season?

plus you are mistaken, Williams came back that year and assumed the role of lead back.

Um, we have 2 first round RBs....no RB had carried the load.

Williams IR in 09 and 10. Stewart has never been on IR

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
