Mike Murphy Back In Charlotte, Skating With The Checkers

In an odd turn of events, goaltender Mike Murphy is back in Charlotte after spending quite a bit of time in the KHL this year. Murphy who is a restricted free agent was in the KHL for seven games this year upon returning to Charlotte. He skated with the Checkers in this morning's practice, however there has been no formal announcement of a deal yet. The Checkers own the rights of Murphy and will look to come to agreement soon, as it would provide great depth at the goaltender position in Charlotte and even in Carolina.

The Current goaltenders in the Canes system are Cam Ward, Dan Ellis, Justin Peters, John Muse, Rob Madore, Mike Murphy, Daniel Altshuller, Matt Mahalak, and Collin Olson
