Realistic trades. I'm not digging the Austin pick, but if that's the direction we go I'll clamber onto the bandwagon and hope for the best. Everything else seems realistic, except I'm not sure where this hype for DJ Hayden has come from. Admittedly I don't know much about him, haven't watched any videos or anything. I've just seen him mentioned around here a few times all of a sudden the past few days. Dunno where this has come from. There's always at least one late riser who gets taken way above expectations from even as little as a week before the draft, so it's just as likely to be him as anyone else.

I just watched the Hayden videos from the thread here. I have to say, his reaction time and change of direction are borderline elite. Looks like he could be a real stud. I do have one complaint though, when he played press (most noticeable in the vs. UCLA video) he is about as unphysical as possible. He wouldn't even put a hand on the guy. He's gotta learn to jam when playing press like that. Other than that, looked like a real sure tackler and quick. That reaction time and change of direction are probably the two most important physical qualities on a CB too.

However, I'm always hesitant on these late draft-season risers. Looks like he could be good though.

I hope you're right as I'd love for Star to fall to us, but he's great value there and the Jets did release their starting nose tackle earlier in the offseason. They have Kendrick Ellis, though, so I suppose it depends on how comfortable they are with him.

I just think the #1 most important piece of any defense, let alone a 3-4, are the pass rushers. The loss of Revis locking down receivers makes their pass rush even more important. The thing their defense lacks the most are....pass rushers. They don't really have any. As much as I love Star, if our defense had no pass rushers, AND we just lost the guy making coverage sacks more possible, I'd have to pass on him for the best pass rushers available. I think they take Mingo and Austin or Patterson (their offense SUCKS). If not Mingo, then J. Jones, Ansah or someone else to rush the passer.

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
