NFL.com 7 Round Mock

Wheaton I wouldn't mind but I feel like he's a tad of a reach at 44. I prefer Escobar in the second round.

I prefer we address the Wide Receiver position with a quality playmaker in the first two rounds and stop relying on a 33 year old 5'9 Wide Receiver to be the only threat at the position, but that's just my preference. I think you can get a good weapon at TE later in the draft especially if you trade down. Really like Jordan Reed in the fourth if we can acquire another pick....

Taking a big TE with great hands takes pressure off Smitty too. Furthermore, skipping a WR in the first two rounds doesn't necessarily mean G-Man won't be drafting one in the later rounds.

I agree, I just feel like finding a replacement for Smitty is more critical than finding a another TE to pair with Olsen. I hope they can pick up and extra pick or two and get both, I just would address WR first and Wheaton is a guy I think can be that replacement....

Jordan Reed needs a ton of development and he's 6'2.

We also wouldn't need him to be an every down TE. Aaron Hernandez (the guy who Reed is compared to) is 6'1 and it's working out fine for him. My plan would be to use him the same way as more of a joker that you move around all over the field....

If we go TE, I much rather a complimentary piece next to Olsen, which is a more all around TE. One who can block well but make catches down the field. Kind of like Walker and Davis in San Fran.

Therefore I much rather the 2nd go towards a WR/DT or if a good player at another position falls.

At first I liked Wheaton, then realized he was 5'11. Hell no.

I like the other picks alot

Id go

Vaccaro

Short

Simon

best NT

best OG

Simon is a physical specimen! 6'3 and runs a 4.5

His weaknesses are easily coachable. Looks like at the least he would make a darn good S.

14. Carolina Panthers: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas. Vaccaro would match up very well against Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzalez in the NFC South, and can also lock down quicker slot targets. He was one of the few to handle Tavon Austin in Texas' loss to West Virginia

44. Panthers: Markus Wheaton, WR, Oregon State. Although he frequently has been compared to Mike Wallace, Wheaton's routes and catch radius are much more advanced than Wallace's were coming out of Ole Miss.

108. Panthers: Bennie Logan, DT, LSU

148. Panthers: Tharold Simon, CB, LSU.

182. Panthers: Dustin Hopkins, K, Florida State.

Damn! that's a nice little haul for us considering we only have 5 picks. I'd be very pleased with this.
