Apparently he was fired directly due to the players dislike for him. It is being said that Gordon is not the only on that didn't care for him.

If sorry ass Gordon or waste of money Tyrus had any say in this it was a mistake. Neither one should be on the team anyway.

A source close to the team told me that in the team's annual season-ending exit interviews that Dunlap received a number of negative evaluations from current Bobcat players – not only for those occasional long practices but for his general demeanor. Dunlap was a demanding guy who tended toward the negative. He was smart with Xs and Os and didn’t mind letting you know that, but he was also snappish and hard to relate to. He was, simply, a boss who many of the players didn't like. Has that style worked for some other basketball coaches? Sure. You could name dozens who weren't warm and cuddly but still won a lot and kept their jobs – although most of them on the list would be college coaches, a place where Dunlap’s personality more naturally fits.

Players were asked in their exit interviews last week for a review of Dunlap’s coaching style. It’s unclear how much that factored in the decision to let him go. In a post-season interview with the Observer Friday, Dunlap said he had evolved as a coach this season. He noted that he had backed off on managing every aspect of games from the sideline and had shortened practices. “Whether it’s Kemba Walker or Brendan Haywood, they appreciate what you don’t say when the game is being played,’’ Dunlap said. “In college you can literally yell across the floor and direct traffic with a player and it’s perfectly acceptable. Here the pro player can’t stand that.’’ Charlotte Observer

Oh yea, he was fired because of the Vets on the team for sure. No doubt about that. Gordon, Sessions, Thomas, Haywood, Mullens... Most likely all had horrible things to say about him because of his practices.

I said it earlier during the season that his practices were too long and it was hurting the team and losing him players.

Who cares if the players like him? So tired of hearing this in the NBA. They're getting paid millions. Stop being whiny and lazy. This is why college basketball is a better product.

 

Also wasn't Silas a 'players' coach'? Shouldn't they have just kept him then?

      lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

      Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
