Oladipo at #4?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'd rather have Randle than Wiggins. But I'd definitely rather have Oladipo and Randle over Wiggins and Bennett.

No, no, no!!!

Wiggins + Bennett >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oladipo + Randle

Wiggins is a lot better than Oladipo.

Bennett and Randle are very similar.

We'd be a top 10 team if we landed both Wiggins and Bennett to Kemba, MKG, and Biz.

Should've said that more clearly, meant on offense mainly.  And most of that comes from him not demanding the ball or being timid in the poo offense Maryland ran.

Little snippet from a scouting report that I agree with...

"Len often appears calm and collected on the court, perhaps to a fault, as his toughness and passion for the game are often among the main questions raised about him. His passivity was well-publicized during his freshman season, when he struggled to adapt to a new way of life in the United States. By his sophomore season, Len had mastered English and appeared far more comfortable with his teammates and reporters in the locker room. His on-court demeanor didn't change much, but he frequently flashed some fire, pumping his fists and shouting into the crowd on occasions when he or one of his teammates made a big play. As for his toughness, Len doesn't really seek out contact on either end of the floor, but he doesn't back down from it either. He also rarely looks to the officials for help on the offensive end, where's he undoubtedly a finesse player, more interested in using his quickness and length to score rather than banging down low."

The part I highlighted very well may have been the main reason, and he did improve this last season. I just don't get that excited about him as a prospect.  His demeanor almost reminds me of Darko Milicic or something. Too many foreign busts for every Gasol or Dirk out there to use another high draft pick on a project when Biz is already on the roster.  Biz and Len on the court at the same time could be great in a few years...but the percentages lean more towards it being a train wreck.

I think offensively he suffered from bad Guard play. UM guards seem like they would have more TO then assist. If any can make a good entry pass he would have avg, 5 more points a game. Big men need guards to shine on offense.

Name me a great Bigman in college or Pro without a good PG?

I believe Goodwin entered the draft, if I'm not mistaken. And Wiltjer is a bum.

I'd rank it:

Wiggins, Randle, Oladipo, Bennett.

I just not 100% sold on Bennett and see me sure bets in Randle and Oladipo. I'd never pass the chance of drafting Wiggins but I'm not going to draft Bennett this year in hopes of drafting Wiggins next year (we all know how our luck in the lottery is). I think Randle is far more polished than Bennett. He actually has a back to the basket game.

Well we will see this upcoming year how each player moves along and progresses in the college game. But I guarantee that randle will be a stud and have a crazy good season.

I love Randle and I believe he's going to be a stud in the Pro, but you can't believe that that duo is better than a Wiggins/Bennett duo.

I mean if you want to stay realistic of our chances than of course look for a Oladipo and Randle duo. The chances of getting Wiggins are slim.

I wouldn't mind a Bennett/Randle combo in the paint but that we will be too small; 6'7 and 6'9. Though, Grandmama was 6'7 and Mourning was 6'10.

PG: Kemba

SG: Hendo / FA

SF: MKG

PF: Bennett

C. : Randle / Biz

I don't think Randle is suited for an undersized center. I see him as more athletic ZBo with a better handle. He has some Lamar Odom him too with the ball handling and passing.

I guess we are just going to have to disagree. I don't think the star power of Wiggins outweighs my uncertainty with Bennett. If I had to average the duos I just think Oladipo and Randle would average higher. They just seem to have the right mindset and definitely have the athletic ability. I like that duo better because they are team players that offer a wider range of skills.

oh sorry that wasnt directed at you. it was to the other guy who sounded like he said he would take randle over wiggins.

If you're referring to me, I never said I would take Randle over Wiggins. I said I wouldn't mind a duo of Bennett/Randle in the paint in the sense that we are probably not going to get Wiggins (no.1 pick) in next year draft.

    • What you are saying isn't always true and I'll give you several examples to demonstrate this. 1) The best player on the board at the end of in round 1 by all consensus is RB (top 15 player in draft who slips b/c of the devaluation of the RB position). Your team is in desperate need of a LT because the current one is getting your QB killed. You already have a serviceable RB in place. The LT has a 2nd round grade and you have the first pick on day 2 of the draft Who do you choose? 2) Your run defense was abysmal the previous season. A DT in round 2 does not provide much in terms of pass rush, but most reports have him rated as the best pure run stuffing DT in the draft. The two highest rated players on your board at the time are a TE and tweener at OLB/DE who slipped into round 2 after a run on WR's. Who do you choose? 3) Your pass rush rush is solid across the board. You even have guy coming off of the bench to provide production. Your secondary in below average. No Safety on the roster is a difference maker and as a unit the squad doesn't have an INT. The highest rated player on the board is a DE. The 5th highest rated player on the board is a an intelligent ball hawking Safety. Which player would make the team immediately better?  1) I think the BPA logic applies when your team is solid across the board and you can afford to draft for depth 2) I think it also applies when your team stinks and any solid player will be an immediate upgrade over what you already have. I agree that you should NEVER reach for a player when you are need at a position like we did for Bryce Young. But I also think if there's is a player on the board that will fill a glaring weakness you need to take him even if a player with a higher over all ranking is available at another position (which isn't a need)
    • Bryce Young excels at dividing Panthers fans. That seems to be what he's best at.
    • 184 yards game, 61% completion 11 tds 5ints    thats ranks :check notes:  25th in the nfl
