Ever heard of Cam Jordan, Akiem Hicks, or Martez Wilson? The starters PFF grades from playtime in first preseason game were much much better than Johnson, Edwards, and Lotulelei.

In first game, Panthers D generated 6 sacks and 8 pressures while Saints D generated 4 sacks and 17 pressures without even one blitz and lining up in base packages all night. 1 preseason game is a small sample thus far, but the numbers so far show big improvement for Saints D

 

 

Wilson just practiced yesterday for first time, with red no contact jersey, I know he didn't play. I meant the starters from preseason game 1 for Saints compared to starters of Panthers.

 

Doesn't look like you did know that in the post you made trying to brag about your starters. The way you said it, it sounds like Jordan, Hicks, and Wilson were the starters you were claiming had better grades, since they were the only ones you named.

Why you don't have good Personal for a 3-4.

 

1. Both your MLB (vilma and Lofton) aren't 3-4 MLB. They are too small and neither are good in coverage anymore.

 

2. No proven 3-4 Rush OLB. Victor is gone for the season. Gallet hasn't proven anything. And your actually using Will Smith as a OLB??? That Alone should cause a pause.

 

3. All the Dlinemen Not name (jordan) have little to no experience playing this defense in the Pro's.

 

4. That first drive by the Chiefs was one of the most efficient drives I've seen in the preseason. Alex Smith was craving you up. Alex Smith!!!

He was pretty far off onl 2012 as well. 

 

Can't really argue with th picks especially within the division.  I think we beat Miami and Minnesota and finish 10-6 and in the hunt.

 

**For the record I had us 11-5 and surprising SF**  in an earlier thread but using Prisco logic I think we will 10-6 instead of 8-8

Let me help the saint fans here.

Why you don't have good Personal for a 3-4.

There is no MLB in a 3-4. Lofton was fine in coverage last year and now has less field to cover. Vilma will probably get beat out by Hawthorne who also played very well. Just a comparison, in coverage last season, Luke Keuchly allowed 54 of 68 catches with a 95 QB rating when throwing his way while Lofton allowed 46 of 66 catches with 101 QB rating, so if you are saying Lofton is bad in coverage, then Luke is also bad as he allowed more catches.

2. So Tez and Gallette playing over 300 snaps, about 1/3 of total snaps and registering the best pass rushing grades on the team by a mile doesn't prove anything? Maybe you're thinking of Undrafted guy Eric Martin that is looking like a beast and will get a lot of snaps tomorrow.

As for OLB, Gallette is on Smith side and I don't see Smith playing anything other than rotating in for pressure plays as the defense will go back to its former pressure type they had success with under Greg Williams. The ability to apply pressure can hide a lot of deficiencies and we now have a solid cover safety in Vacarro.

3. So Bunkleys 5 years in NFL and playing almost half the snaps is no experience, Akiem Hocks playing almost half snaps and being best graded player on defense is no experience?

4. The first drive by Smith still took 14 plays and had two chances at 3rd and long to stop, but there was no blitzing and no large plays given. Also, the guy that are expected to start on edges, Gallette and Wilson were out and 9 of the plays were little dump offs running to those edges. Also they recorded a sack and multiple pressures on that drive and only allowed one more 3rd down conversion the entire rest of game, so not so bad a start.

Not trying to get in ya'lls ish but this really is semantics.  Someone has to play one of the two ILB and it would make sense for the 2 MLBs to do it, unless theres a backup sam or will that would be better at one of the ILB.  I'm not familiar with the Saints roster beyond the big names.
