DeAngelo Williams, the BEST RB in Panthers History........

DeAngelo Williams is the best RB in Panthers history and arguably the most talented. But guys like Foster & Davis took us farther at this point and should not be dismissed or hated on. DeAngelo had the best season EVER for a RB in Carolina, but Stephen Davis carrying us to a Super Bowl in 03 was more special. Foster even put up #'s and highlight reel runs for us in the playoffs in 03 & 05. I want to see DeAngelo & Stewart take us back to winning games in January.

i Agree.

Until DWIll can do the same he wont posses that "it" that Davis does.

Stats are great but championships last forever!

The point is not to be a positive polly, but rather recognize that the guy tried as hard as he could to be a good player but it didn't work out for him.... so why bash him after his career is over? We have two great backs here that deserve our positive attention, so why use the emergence of one to negatively implicate one of our former players who bled Panther blue? His work ethic was never a problem. He always showed up ready to play. I would imagine that part of the way that Williams handles Stewart's success was learned from how Foster welcomed Williams onto the team and helped him towards the player and man he has become. I would imagine the reason that John Fox kept pushing carries on this guy was because he was such a damn fine character guy and it would have been a big boost to see him be successful.

People tend to forget that these aren't cardboard cutouts, they're actual people too. I'm not saying we have to be totally PC and correct all the time because their family or friends might be reading, but what purpose does it serve to bash a player who is no longer on our team, no longer "hurting" our team, and has no impact on the future of our organization?

Deshaun gave us some great moments, but he also gave us many sad moments. Some may harp on the negative, but i'll try to remember the good he gave this team rather than the bad now that he is no longer a factor.

God forbid you show a little balance in your thoughts... I think that's what throws these people off some times. It's like reading chinese... "You can have a critical thought without being biased and vice versa?"

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
