Beaver

Got a call last night from one of my closest friends. What he said was devistating. Our friend, whom I called Beaver since I was 15, had died. It crushed me. Us three had been boys for 20 years. Where ever one of us was you could find the other two. We went through a lot together.... From getting suspended from school for being little shits, running from the cops and getting away, there's just to much poo to list. I called his phone last night. I don't know why. I just sat there crying while it rang. He was no angel by any means but his soul was true. He had an affinity for gangster rap and the niners. He loved the Atlanta braves.

This is the first time someone as close to me as he was has moved on. I'm sitting here tearing up and shaking. I want to hear him laugh. I want to fuging hug him and tell him I love him. I've been sitting here beating myself up over poo. I should have answered the phone the last time he called. He was here yesterday and now he's gone.

I'm not looking for condolences or any other horse poo. I'm going to post things here that he loved. He liked eating imitation crab meat with cocktail sauce. He'd eat packs of it. So fuging weird. This thread is for my brother that left me to soon.

Sorry to hear it.

I have been trying to find a best friend of mine. We had a falling out about 15 years ago, Then he called me on new years day morning 2006 and it didn't go well. I know he is not on FB, but I'm sure if I try harder I can find him.

Everything thing on this thread is so true about Beaver. I know because I was the other that raised h*** with these two. Now there is only two left in the chaos. Well we chose different paths but always stuck together thru it all. Tough love became very true during after our escapades. We all went different directions and only two have made it out. The phone call I got was very disheartening to say the least. Our boy beav struggled with a lot of demons and now he is free free for the anguish that his actions produced for him. He was so loved in this world but he just could not see thru to feel that love. Now he will see love like no other has on this earth. The best thing is that there are no strings attached to the love that he is receiving right now. I love you beaver. I love you budda. By the way he hated that nickname

You know he never once said anything to me about not liking it. Not a peep. I guess it's no surprise that he didn't like it. I mean its fuging beaver. CJ use to call him Treevis. I always liked that one.

Your tribute reminded me of that line from the Rick Ross song Mafia Music:

“Used to run the streets, young nigga, bare feet. Now I’m in the suites and I’m eating crab meats.”

Which reminded me of this:

Not trying to make light of your loss. I've lost a larger number of friends than I should have for my age. I always use humor to deal with it. I thought this tied your friend's love of rap music and crab meats together too perfectly to not post it.

    • If the losses were him not stepping up in key situations then it'd be a disappointment.
    • I'm well versed in the minutiea of the Canes radio broadcast system... lol I've been back in WNC for about 15 years now. And, until very recently, we would only get Predators games on the RSNs out here. So, radio was the only option for me to keep up with the team. These were the dark years, too. Maybe, once a year, you'd get to see us get smashed on national TV by some original 6 powerhouse. If you were really lucky, Jeff Skinner would bless you with one of his absolutely stunning pirouette passes to nowhere, before Wardo toppled over off his head, giving up a goal on his 70th shot faced that night for an inspiring 1-0 loss. But, that story sounds a whole lot cooler when Chuck Kaiton is telling it to you in real-time with the raspy drawl of a calving heifer! Before TuneIn or the Canes apps even existed, I used to have to find the one spot out in the back yard, where the hills and trees parted just right, that I could pickup 730(?)AM The Buzz all the way out in Catawba county. I'd sit in the shadow of the mighty Appalachians, staring out at the stars and getting high with stray cats, while being serenaded by the worst hockey you've never seen played in your life. That all, finally, started to change around the time TD bought the team. Part of that is due to the new NHL TV contracts and the constant reorganization of the RSNs themselves. Part, was me breaking up with that feral cat and moving to LKN to escape all the painful memories. The march of progress, and all that... I will say though, as much as I've criticized Dundon and as much as I loathe the existence of billionaires on principle, he has done an exceptional job of improving the fan experience, on the whole. Working with the league to expand the coverage map and bringing in outdoor games and all-star weeks has been huge. But, improving the quality on the ice (and of the ice) for all levels of hockey across the state has been even bigger! I forgot where I was going with all this, but... I'll still never forgive him for retiring Chuck K, though! HEY, HEY, WHADDYA SAY!!!!
