Why The Electoral College Ruins Democracy

Recommended Posts

1 person = 1 vote is the only system consistent with American values. if you think your vote should count more than someone else's then you are garbage.

Makes sense. Just need to change the rules before the election, whining about it after is pointless, the game would have been played differently.

Its the United STATES of America.

Not the the United States of California and New York of America.

The last thing we need is the political arm of New York and California determining the fate of middle America.

You guys are so wrapped up in we should all be socialist,  tell me one socialist country that has a population over 100 Million that has it better than us?

Go ahead.

I'll wait.

Point is politicians would actually go to all states and campaign. For instance unless you were voting for Hillary in California in 2016 there is zero chance of your vote counting. The only time my vote had a potential to count in 2016 here in Cali was in the primaries when I voted Bernie Sanders. People might actually be engaged in the election process if their vote counted. I think the numbers might surprise if the malais in the voting electorate was gone.

Well thats all well and good until the R candidate can't campaign in LA or Chicago because of antifa protest.

Like exactly what happened in Chicago to Trump prior to the election.

You will not convince the welfare state to give up their section 8, their EBT or their other entitlement programs.  So a R has as much chance of winning votes in these cities as a D has a chance of winning votes in Des Moines.

you could just rephrase this and say "the last thing we need is the will of the American people to determine the fate of America."

you're basically in no uncertain terms admitting that your chosen ideology is a small minority that couldn't win without unethical manipulation of vote weights.

People In a state 800 miles away who do nothing but suck the federal tit should not dictate how the money of grain farmers who work 15hrs  a day are regulated and taxed.

once again United STATES of America.  States first.
