  1. The hatred on this forum for Corral is amazing. Young goes 4-6 66.7% for 21 yds and the blame goes to the offensive line. Rightfully So. Corral doesn't light up the world and he sucks. (15-22 126yd 68.2% 0TD 1 Int) This mainly comes from the same group of people that said he sucked after Fhules Debacle on the QB position last year. God knows you all to be wrong. Others believe he had a decent week considering the play of the offensive line and him not playing for nearly a year. It behooves us that he improves. One, Dalton isn't going to be around forever, two a good young backup helps us if we happen to lose Young. Three, the backups available at this moment are far worse than a young Corral. Four, which could happen especially for a young team. Corral is traded for picks. I am sure there are more reasons to hope he improves. Carolina Panthers News: Matt Corral, Frank Reich, Bryce Young and Amare Barno (catcrave.com) Yeah I know, it was against scrubs that won't make the NFL roster. This is Corral's fault? I am pulling for Young to be our savior. I think he really is going to be very good once the regular season starts. The weekly fear will be, is this the week he gets cremated by a 350 DT and survives?
  2. i was highly disappointed in our performance and IMO it looked like very few actually came to play. The PR allowed a punt to roll from the 15 all the way to the 2. Shenalt couldn't break away from the DB on a good pass from Young. Running game was non-existent. Just to name a few. Best thing is we are still 0-0. I am sure they were disappointed. I am not panicking yet. What I am hoping is that our staff learned a lot about our depth chart. Who can play and contribute and who needs to start looking for employment outside of football.
  3. Of course we all want to win every game but the truth is. There isn't any game planning. The entire starting lineup isn't in there and most games are very vanilla. So No. I do tend to think whoever won in the 1st half is the true winner of the game.
  4. I just watched the New England / Houston game and Stroud looked overwhelmed. If their offensive line plays like it did in this preseason game. He's going to have a rough year. They were consistently getting pushed around by NE defense. It wasn't until late that Houston scored and ran away with it in the 2nd half. Both teams look horrible.
  5. If you remember Chinn outplayed Simmon their first year in the league. I wasn't Chinn's fault that he was underutilized in our defense. Chinn this year will show he's just as good as Simmons. Most don't give any Carolina players their proper due. I am not saying Simmons is overrated either I just believe that Chinn is highly underrated. While I agree Roy was a Rhule guy you don't normally jettison a player off the 90-man roster unless you are certain someone (McCall) has won the position. You appear to think that your takes are more accurate than others.
  6. Young's football IQ made him the best pick and I am happy we have him; however, Richardson was my #2 pick. The guy has a huge upside and eventually is going to be a threat very similar to Cam. Indy IMO is probably in a rebuild mode and Richardson was the best pick for that rebuild.
  7. Capers is his advisor and mentor so I don't think if Evero leaves we won't have a similar defense without him. Hopefully, he stays two years and we get compensation for him when he does go. Actually, I do believe we have a better Simmons in Chinn. There has been so much focus on the offense and Young's growth that our defense is well under the radar. From Evero being at the helm to each starting position filled with good players. Health will be important for the backend, but this defense is going to help us win a lot of game. I am excited about McCall being in the middle. He had to be leaps and bounds better for us to release two players that were in competition with him.
  8. Did Matt Fhule vote. He's gotta be the only one who thinks we are going in the wrong direction.
  9. I believe the entire key to our defense will be how the backend performs. If Horn and Jackson stay healthy, I think this defense could be very special. We have many good players up front. The keys are Jackson and Horn and that is my worry. Neither seem to be able to stay healthy. Our only other hope is that others on the roster step up in a big way. However, if they do stay healthy Evero will be able to do many exciting things with our defense. He's a proved DC that can lead a top 10 defense. No reason we shouldn't be inside the top 10. Let's go.
  10. One thing I think many haven't said about him is. What he means to the group. His leadership in helping the young wide receivers run proper routes will be invaluable. Adam is a fantastic route runner and is a clutch receiver. The philosophy of spreading the ball around will give him plenty of one on one opportunities and I believe he will have solid numbers this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a favorite target for Young.
  11. Are there any players from the USFL that might be brought in to compete. I know we signed one or two from the XFL.
  12. Agreed. I have always been optimistic about our coming season, even under Fhule, hoping that the coming season will be different than the previous. Only to realize it is the SOS. I don't think someone is going to say they are going to expand the playbook to put fear into other teams, to boost his confidence or to give the fans hope that they picked the right guy. They said it because he's grasping the scheme and is showing he can handle more. I think we should look at him as a Luke Kuechly on offense. Someone who really dives into the playbook and the scheme we are running. Someone who focuses on every detail. This isn't a bad thing. Because we might expand the playbook doesn't mean he's never going to make a mistake. The one thing I bet he will do. Is never make the same mistake twice like Darnold used to. I'm optimistic as hell and believe he is going to good. I also expect mistakes. Super excited for the next 5 weeks to be over.
  13. I love Diggs but he's a Primadona and we really don't need that with Young. Reich wants to spread the ball around to make defenses cover everyone. Diggs will demand the ball more and mess that system up. I am anxious to see our WR corps perform.
  14. Add a little Braveheart face paint and they'll never come back.
  15. Theilen is an excellent route runner and his input to these young players should not go unnoticed. Even if Theilen has pedestrian numbers his value to the locker room will be worth every penny we pay him.
  16. Before you know it, you will be chasing the boys away with a baseball bat. Happy Father's Day
  17. I know Miller is a great talent but recently I read where there are some issues with his game translating to the NBA. I hope we take Scoot. Here's a question for you diehard Hornet fans. Do you take Scoot and package Melo in a trade? Revamp the whole team based around Scoot. I like Melo but I get this feeling that when his time is up here, he is going to want out of Charlotte. Thoughts
  18. Absolutely. If you remember N.O. was being sold and they were having a hard time finding a buyer. April of that Year Benson bought the franchise, and I can almost guarantee part of the deal was they got the first pick. It was Charlotte's pick but it wasn't happening. I wasn't surprised to see Wemby going to SA. They weren't going to risk the future star of this league with a broken franchise like the Hornets. Send him to the best place for big man. It was a no brainer. The NBA makes is seem like the draft is legitimate, but the draw is rigged and always will be. You'll see when one season the entire draft class is weak. Charlotte will get the top pick. Not until then will the Hornets pick No. 1.
  19. Yeah, I think kickers were getting good a placing the ball at the 1 or 2 yard line and forcing teams to run it out. They get stopped inside the 20 and it pissed Roger G off so now we have this garbage.
  20. I wasn't implying week 1 but, if Corral showed good command of the offense, why not? You're going with a rookie anyhow and he is going to have a learning curve. That said I don't believe they would. It's possible that by mid-season Corral could be #2.
  21. I am hoping one of these guys comes out with that "It's my ball" mentality. We need someone who Young can take a risk with and know that WR is going to fight for the ball. That was one of my favorite things about Moore. He fought for the ball. Obviously, we were spoiled with the greatest fighter ever in S. Smith.
  22. What's to say that he doesn't do well enough to beat out Dalton for the #2 spot. Dalton is going to get his money regardless. I think he'll be here for the 2 years on his contract. There is nothing wrong with him mentoring both Young and Corral. I believe Young is going to be awesome, but I am worried about his ability to stay healthy. He has, or as they have said, great presence in the pocket but what happens when some LB destroys him. Will he get up or end up injured for a week or two. Can he withstand a 17-game schedule without getting hurt? If Corral, shows he can manage this team it only helps us. I think I'd rather have a young QB than Dalton. I would not be surprised if by the end of the season Corral is #2.
  23. This is the proper thinking. Corral has many tools that could help him succeed in this league. Rhule did us no favors last year by ignoring his chance and put him on the field without much opportunity for success. My hope is that he earns a spot on this team and becomes a viable backup to Young. We hope Young never gets hurt but he's not invincible to injury. It will be nice to know if something did happen to Young we aren't scrambling again for a QB. Many of you know I have been a supporter of Corral. My reasoning is I believe he has all the tools to be successful in the NFL. I believe with proper coaching he'll be a solid backup and as you said hopefully good enough that when the time comes, we can get some value out of him.
  24. Rhule is the ONLY reason he was on the Panthers. Walker had a couple of nice moments but should have stayed in the XFL.
  25. I hope be backs it up. You gotta love the fire. Nothing better than a real chip on ths shoulder. Go Panthers
