  1. Most everyone here seems to think that J. Fields is going to be a great NFL QB. And IMO he is trending up. Richardson is leaps and bounds a better athlete than Fields. If you believe Fields can do it than why not Richardson? It's a huge gamble but having a dual threat QB with a head coach with a QB background and knows what he is doing is very exciting. Plus a top 10 defense. Things could get interesting in Carolina for the next decade. All of these QBs have question marks whether it is size, ability to read defense or just doesn't have the experience. So it boils down to who is going to lead this team for the next decade and a half. I'll be happy with whoever we choose but I would go with the one who has the highest ceiling not necessarily the one who can start immediately.
  2. I just said in another thread. If you draft him you go with him this season. Maybe not week one or two but by our bye week he should be under center. We have Mike Sanders a good running back with great hands. A CMC type of RB. We have H. Hurst a good receiving TE. A solid offensive line. DJ Chark a take the top off receiver and one of the best route runners in the NFL in Thielen. From his interviews at the combine he showed great understanding of being a QB. Good QB IQ. As Dan O said, to me, this indicates he can be brought along slowly and let the talent around him be the stars. He doesn't have to carry the team. Draft Him, Start Him He's my darkhorse candidate.
  3. You have great talent in every position on the offensive side. Fitterer and Co. have put talent at every position where a young QB can come in a start right away. Sure you have to bring him along with baby steps but getting him on the field is not necessarily out of the question for any rookie QB including Richardson. Putting Richardson on the field now compared to letting him sit for 2 or 3 seasons doesn't make sense. He is still going to have growing pains in his first year starting. If we draft him, Work is ass off and get him ready to start this year.
  4. The moment he gets put on the practice squad he will be picked up by another team that is willing to work with him. It would be foolish. If you are going to put him on the PS might as well release him. SF should be a prime example of not giving up on a rookie. Purty was an afterthought pick and now is heading into 2023 as the #1 QB in SF. God forbid our rookie QB get hurt and we are back to running with a has been QB.
  5. He's nowhere near Young or Stroud but as I said earlier. His ceiling is much higher. He'' probably end up on a team like New Orleans where he can sit behind Carr for a couple of seasons. (aka Love in GB)
  6. Don't forget he had a NJCAA National Championship with Blinn College before Auburn. Richardson had one season with UF. I have always said that Richardson is the dark horse. His ceiling could be higher than all the QBs in this draft. I don't think he's the pick. We have picked up far too many good free agents and not expect to compete in the NFCS.
  7. He did get hurt in college and if you watch the hit it wasn't a brutal it. My concern is his longevity. If the guy last only 5 years, we are back to ground zero. If we take Stroud, he may not have all the traits Young has but he'll grow with Reich and last much longer. I'll be happy with both but Young just worries me he won't last 10-15 years.
  8. Reich isn't Rhule. He's not going to take his boy over a better prospect. Just not happening.
  9. IMO that would be stupid. We at least have to see what he has. Makes no sense to cut him. I see Eason going before Corral.
  10. Agreed they haven't said anything. There really isn't anything to say. They have very little first hand knowledge about him. THANK YOU VERY MUCH MATT RHULE. He could come in and really shine or he could just be another guy. I think he will do much better with Reich and McCown as his coaches. It will be really nice if he actually shows he can play and we have a solid backup to our future QB. I wouldn't say they don't have any plans for him. Develop him and who knows maybe we get another pick or two for him.
  11. You've got him under contract for the next 3 seasons. Wouldn't it behoove us to work with him. It makes zero sense to have a QB on your roster and not develop him. Look what Washington did when they drafted RGIII. They also had Cousin and it paid off. I'm not implying that Corral would be Cousins but we are never going to find out until we give him some work. It's not all against odd that he could pan out. If he plays well than we have a good backup in case Young is as fragile as some believe. If Young isn't injury prone than we have trade capital.
  12. I like Young. Though I have been a proponent of drafting Stroud, the more I think about it we are going to be drafting Young. My concerns are valid. His size is a factor. I watched the game where he hurt his shoulder and it wasn't that bad of a hit. In the NFL those hits will be 10-fold and it worries me that we draft a QB that won't last 4 or 5 seasons. I do think that Fitterer has to make the O-line a priority every season if we draft Young. We cannot go into a season with a mediocre or worst O-line. IT HAS TO BE TOP TIER. Stroud is more of a Reich kind of QB. Big, Tall and as the Georgia Game showed, mobile. Reich likes an RPO type of QB which Stroud is. However, Young has more intangibles that make it hard to pass on. You can't overlook his playmaking ability. As many of you know, I have been a huge Corral supporter and he will hopefully learn to be a good QB under Reich and McCown. This former draft pick also gives me reason to believe Young will be our pick. God knows no one wants him to get hurt and have to find out. But, Corral could be a strong reason we take Young. He's young and will get a chance to really develop behind Young. If Young were to go down we don't have look very far to bring in a QB. He'll be 3rd on the depth chart but will get a better chance to work with the offense than the farce work he got under Rhule.
  13. I sure the hell hope they thought this out right. The Niners should be contending this year. If we swap picks it sounds like we will be dropping down in the draft instead of moving up.
  14. Happy with the signing but he has issues with not being able to play. I am glad it is only a one year deal. If he plays well in 2023 than we can talk something longer.
  15. I noticed the same thing. Cousin fell in love with Jefferson and never looke Thielens way. So many times he was wide open and Cousin missed him.
  16. I hope he shines. I know it is a steep hill to climb but who knows if he could make a roster he might just do something special. Cam is one of my all-time favorites and changed the league because many teams look for their Cam Newton. Good Luck Cam.
  17. I don't think anyone doubts his playmaking abilities. It is just when he get destroyed by a DE coming in on the blind side and blows him up. How many of those hits is he going to be able to withstand. If It were my choice, I am going to go with the QB that has a better chance of hanging around for more than a couple of seasons.
  18. God knows we don't need to be known for our best weapon is a TE.
  19. i Honestly think this is where we are going. I think his interview at the combine showed he is an intelligent QB and with the proper coaching, which we have, will make him the best QB in this draft. Mabye sooner than later. I do believe we will do our due diligence and have each QB in for a visit and workout. I think Reich and McCown will see the potential and take a chance.
  20. Trading back to the Colts wouldn't be such a bad idea if Arizona was going to stay put at #3 but someone is going to trade up for that 3rd spot. So IMO if we trade down it will only be to #2. Having talks with Indy could press Houston to bite on moving up to #1. It would be great because they seem to love Young and he's their #1 pick which would give us picks and our QB Stroud.
  21. Adam was the man in Minnesota before Jefferson went there. I think he is an excellent route runner and will be a great fit for our scheme and our young QB.
  22. I am glad they haven't announced who they will draft. I agree that they have made up their mind but truthfully I can't say for 100% it's Stroud. Stroud seems to be the best option because Reich wants a QB that can run the RPO and I don't think Young is durable enough to run that type of offense. It's tough to overlook Young because he has that Mahomes ability. Stroud was right there with Richardson at the combine in the throwing portion. Young being a distant second, IMO could have us saying. If we only drafted Young. While he maybe the most ready I have a fear he'll end up like Tua after a couple of season of abuse. If we do draft Young we better ensure that our O-line is top tier. If we have Young and a weak line he'll disappear in no time. The darkhorse in my opinion is Richardson. I know many would absolutely lose their minds if we drafted him. But, IMO his ceiling might be greater than both Stroud and Young. The young man from what I have heard was exceptional in the interview portion of the combine. Not to mention he absolutely lit it up in the throwing portion of the combine. You combine that with two coaches that seem to know the QB position quite well. If we draft him and he took to the offense well, maybe he surprises us and starts game 1. So my opinion it's Stroud but deep in my heart I would love to see us take gamble and bring in Cam Jackson.
  23. Houston needs so much more than just a QB. Regardless of who they pick they are going to have a tough 2023. I'd take #2 and their 1st next year which most likely will be top 10. Maybe a 3rd in 2024.
  24. I expect him to get some meaningful Reps this preseason. He'll be groomed to be a backup. You are relying on a rookie to start; you might as well have good young back up. It only benefits us for Reich and Co. to develop Corral. If he were to get some meaningful minutes, he could boost our chances of trading him for our 3rd back.
