During the presser I notice Fitterer mentioned Foreman ahead of Hubbard so hopefully it's Foreman.

This is the time for this young man to step up. He did a good job last year with the Titans after Derrick Henry went down. Sadly, I am not too excited about McAdoo but hopefully he can step up.

So many want to say we have a depleted team. I don't agree. We have several good pieces in place and Fitterer made it a point that we will not trade any of our good young talent. We have to nail this first pick and our history shows we are pretty good at getting a good player in the first round. I think if do well with the 4 picks we have in the first 3 rounds we can compete in 2023 for a division title and the playoffs.

So where in this does it imply CMC requested a trade or wanted out. Fitterer said he notified CMC earlier in the week when they started getting calls. Said several teams were testing the waters and later it got more intense. He also said which I find funny you don't acknowledge. He said all CMC was focused on was Tampa. I don't think a player that wants out is going to be focused on the next team. Usually crap like that gets out to the media one way or another. I never saw anything where CMC asked for a trade or implied he wanted out.

The GM is going to select the interviewees. He will conduct the interviews without Tepper. Once all the interviews are done, Fitterer, Morgan and Tepper will sit down and choose the best coach for our future. That's how it works. I don't think there is one owner, outside of Jerry Jones, who doesn't have a seat at the table when making this type of decision. Too many of you want to nitpick things that are said as a shot against the GM. I think Fitterer may have approached Tepper about CMC and informed him that we are getting offers and the best way to rebuild this team is to get a good trade deal for him. In the presser Fitterer said we were close to getting the value of a 1st rounder, which many of you said we should get. Instead of one pick we got 4 good picks. I would have liked to see us get a 3rd in 2024 but am happy with the haul.

Welp… Stroud is the guy, right?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
You must not be evaluating with the same glasses. Stroud is a product of a good OSU system. He has all the tools but I don't see him using them all the time. I watched some of his videos and one thing that stood out to me was some of his passes just kind of float out to his WIDE OPEN receivers. I've seen him zip passes but I've also seen them float. If he does that in the NFL he'll get a lot of picks. I haven't watched Levis yet so I'll give my POV later. I wouldn't be upset with Young, Stroud or Hooker. All have strong skill sets and all have question marks. IMO none of them are surefire franchise QBs. -

QB at 1, not sure it's Stroud. What sucks is we have 6 months of speculation. It's gonna be a long 6 months. -
Homers, you mean everyone that disagrees with you. You're not always right and I would bet with the incredible "the sky is falling attitude" you're probably more wrong than right.

I'm not surprised with some of the reaction we've had on this board. Mostly childish ranting and raving because we traded away their man-crush player. CMC was a great player and may very well push SF over the top but to get the value we did was a good move. Don't be surprised if SF unloads Debo Samuel. He wanted a trade before the season and it's possible that they move him and put CMC in his place. Remember Samuel did not want to be a duel threat, he wanted to be more of a WR. While I think this is a good move for SF, it could backfire. CMC, as we all know, hasn't played a full season since 2019. If CMC, Jimmy G or anyone of their players go down for a significant time their SB dream could crash on them. They are 3-3 and in the middle of the pack right now. Many great players have come out of the 2nd and 3rd round. I think we need to calm down and start watching plays that might fall to us in the draft. Our new head coach and Fitterer will be going in the draft with the top pick and 2 2nd round picks. That's almost a guarantee for 3 starters. We'll have replaced one starter with 3. NOT BAD
-
I wanted to keep him but totally understand the reasoning. This trade will probably put them in the drivers seat for the NFCW but stranger things have happened. It's not a bad haul. Remember LAR were in the conversation too and must have offered less. Right now we have four picks in the first 3 rounds. Fitterer better do his homework and hit on all these picks. We won't be able to assess this trade until we make those picks next April. Until then 1/2 of the Huddle is gonna bitch about the trade and the other half is going to praise it. April will tell the truth for us.

Brady isn't the QB he was during their championship run a couple of years ago. He was blaming his line but he is a statue back there and needs to retire. He doesn't have Gronk and is lost. Gronk was his safety blanket. That said, TB will score late in the game because our defense will be on the field 45 of the 60 minutes and be gassed by the 4th quarter. It's pretty sad when your defense has scored more TDs than your offense the last 3 weeks.
-
If we draft Young they better make sure that our line is elite. We put him behind a garbage line like we did last year. We'll get him killed.
-
It's so hard to tell these days. I have my concerns about Young but I have to say the skill level and the ability to read a defense and make all the throws trumps size. I would not be crying if we drafted him. I was 4'11 as a Junior in high school and grew 13 inches in 21 months. When I graduated I was 6 foot and grew another inch. Looking at the picture of Young at the ESPY he looks like a kid. I would believe he's got another inch or to in him. He'll definitely gain some weight. I also believe by the end of the year Hooker is going to be in the top 5 QB talk. He's smart and very athletic. I don't know much about Levis so I will be watching Kentucky this weekend to get a better opinion of him. Stroud, is another QB I need to watch more of but some of his highlights concern me. He can make all the throws but it just seems to me they float more than zip. But like I said I need to watch more of him.
-
Sadly, his size will not cause him to fall out of the top 10.
-
My concern as well is if he runs and tried to out muscle some linebacker for a first down and gets blown up. A great QB doesn't do us much good if he's on the injury report each week.

Panthers designated Sam Darnold to return from IR.
DaveThePanther2008 replied to WaterBoy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm talking with the Panthers, I could give 2 fugs about who and when he played before. IN OUR OFFENSE 4:19 left to go in the 4th QTR, Eason took his first snap. That is actually less than a 1/3 of a quarter. Sam is Sam. He's going to look good but at that critical moment. He's going to screw up. -

Vinny would be interesting but I don't think they allow walkers on the football field. Vinny was ancient when he played in 2010 and wasn't mobile back than. -

Mayfield or Eason. If you're talking Mayfield I agree. If you are talking Eason, what harm would it do to give him this week to show what he can do? Absolutely none, unless you still think we can compete for a playoff spot. -

I don't anyone said he was the future, but he damn sure looked better than PJ "I can't hit a bull in the butt with a banjo" Walker. Sam sucks we agree but you're going to base Eason off a 1/2 a quarter. Come on. At least, give it a complete game with a week with the starting team before you trash him to the junk pile. He's practice squad for a reason and expectations are pretty low. Honestly, I'd rather take a good look at him going into the offseason. We're going to need a competent backup. -
I never said it would be a rookie QB. Because you draft a rookie QB doesn't mean he'll start from day one. There will be several QBs that could come on a 1-year deal to make a run at it. The best thing about the NFL is each new season someone has turned things around. Pessimistically, 2 or more years. Optimistically next year.
-
Do not agree with this at all. (I can't believe I am saying this) We have a good offensive line, CMC and some decent WRs. We have a top 10 defense, if they weren't on the field so much. You bring in a good HC with an innovated offense, a QB that at minimum, can manage the offense. A defensive coordinator that can utilize the good players we have. It's not impossible to turn this around in one off-season. A prime example is the NY Giants. Brian Daboll has this team playing great football. They are fighting to the end and are winning. Last year they were as bad as we were. This year they are in the position to get a wildcard and depending on how the remainder of the season goes. They could win their division.
-
Minnesota? they are 5-1. Add CMC with Cook and Jefferson. That would be nasty.
