That's something I hadn't thought about. Rhule hasn't been the brightest light bulb in the room when it comes to hiring coaches. Though I do like the Campen and Wilks hires. That said McAdoo wants to run the ball. We now have on offensive line (at least on paper) that is built to maul some people. CMC, if he stays healthy, might have his best season as a runner and along with Foreman we might bring back the glory days of Double Trouble. He's had success before. I believe most coaches when they get fired reflect on what went good and what went bad. And take that experience and become better providing their egos don't get in the way, ie Nagy. I get your point but I rather be optimistic than pessimistic. I like all the hires we have made so far and optimistically hope he's the right hire for the team we have. We better hope so because Corral is his type of QB. The next coaching staff, if Rhule/McAdoo fails, may not like him.

Mitch was good in L.A. and given the time he'll get the Hornets straight. MJ knows what he can do. Mitch is also a former Tarheel and he and MJ are family.

Kia Jones 2021-2022 highlights in Greensboro..
DaveThePanther2008 replied to WOW!!'s topic in Charlotte Hornets
Positives He's quick as hell. Appears to be a good defender. Lots of potential. Not saying he is Giannis but Giannis wasn't very big his first couple of season. If Kai can bulk, with his quickness he could be a real find. Negatives Kai's not going to dunk that this in the NBA. The majority of his highlights are dunks against players that probably won't ever sniff the NBA. It's nice to see him make a couple of three but those seem to be far in between. Anyone know is 3 point percentage. He needs to beef up. ALOT He'll get pushed around by quality NBA big men. -
Realistic Expectations for 4th-7th Rounders

I'm not so down on the 2021 draft. Many of those players got in games last year and hopefully they have grown some. I don't think we've ever had a draft where they actually played on game day. We'll see. -
Official pick your rookie sleeper thread.

I think it is Mays too. He is perfect for our run first offense and his versatility will get him in the lineup sooner than later. -
Realistic Expectations for 4th-7th Rounders
DaveThePanther2008 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not totally convinced it was all about talent. Something makes me feel that the Rhule Rookie effect was in place. In preseason he wasn't just playing well against 2nd teamers he had a couple really nice catches against 1st team talent. -
Brady Christensen taking snaps at Center
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
When we mention Elfien, Jordan and Daley in our starting line up in 2021 and now they are almost an afterthought for even backups it says alot of how we have address the line situation. We CLEARLY have a much better starting unit and we have some quality depth. Had Rhule played Christensen and Brown more last season we would have a much better start to 2022. I have no doubt Campen is going to get the most out of the players we have on the final 53. -
Robby or Robbie Anderson no show OTA’s
DaveThePanther2008 replied to slumdogmillionaire's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kind of reminds me about KK Short. Is he even in the league anymore. I remember his rookie season when he was toe to toe in stats with Aaron Donald. He got his big paycheck and disappeared. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to slumdogmillionaire's topic in Carolina Panthers
OTAs are voluntary. Got it. There was a time where every Panther showed up at OTAs. It was when we were relevant. IMO when star players or supposed to be star players don't show up. They really do give a crap about the team. Robbie has been a little bitch all off season. Removing Panther stuff from his page and other things. Making BS comments about players he does and doesn't want on the team. If you don't want to be here, ask for a freaking trade and be done with it. I would respect him more if he asked out and his motivation for not showing up was a holdout for a trade. As a veteran of the WR corps he should be out there. He got his long term deal. Hasn't asked for a trade so show the F_CK up and earn your freaking salary. -

DaveThePanther2008 replied to slumdogmillionaire's topic in Carolina Panthers
For me, Robbie missing OTAs is not acceptable. We have a new system and a struggling QB and a rookie QB. He's the oldest WR veteran we have. He should be setting the example. I know OTAs are not mandatory but he should be the 1st WR out the door for these younger WRs. Just my opinion though. -
Brady Christensen taking snaps at Center
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It makes perfect sense to me. BC is a pretty smart guy and your center needs to be smart to make the O-line calls. Giving him reps at Center makes perfect sense. Campen is tinkering will players and if BC can play center than 2023 we don't have to resign Bozeman and BC still has 2 years on his rookie deal. It was nice when we had players that could play G and C or G and LT. It seems more to me that some of these folks just want everything to fail so we can bring in another coach and start all over again. What's really bothersome is no one knows whether the next coach is going to be any better than the one we got. NO ONE. They'll speculate but no one is 100% sure of turning things around. -
Alexander analyzes the upcoming season
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The way I look at it, if Corral is going to struggle in his first year under center. I would rather him do it this year than having to wait until 2023. If Corral can execute the playbook. Let him play. Our line is much better so he won't be running for his life. I still wish they would sign Cam as a backup. He's much better than PJ and Darnold. -
No, it was just names they said could possibly be released by GB. I was just listing all 3 the article mentioned.
-
The longer we can hold out on signing these guys the lower the salary is going to be. I think once one signs the others will soon follow. I would love to see us use some of that cap for a DE. It would give me a better feeling for our defense.
-
We're stupid if we trade for him. He is either going to be the starter day one since Watson is out or they are going to cut him sooner or later. Either way the BROWNS are going to pay him. Just sit back and wait. If they cut him, give him a one year deal and let him take his chances that he'll put Carolina on his back and have a great season. Someone signs him in 2023. It just doesn't make sense to trade for him with one exception and that's a one for one swap with Darnold.
-
At 32 we might be able to trade a low round pick and maybe they pick up some of his money. He'd be a good match with Burns on the other side.
-
Mostly you're correct. However some teams draft replacement player (1st rounders) and would be looking to play them and save money with the rookies. And if I am correct, June 1st cuts gives them the opportunity to spread the money out over a couple of years. (100% if that is correct)
-
I also just read where Quinn wants out of Chicago. He's 32 and had a career year last year with 18.5 sack. I am sure part of his success was because he was opposite K. Mack who is now in SD. He's under contract until 2024. Report: Bears Pro Bowl DE Robert Quinn 'wants out of Chicago' (msn.com)
-
Well June 1st is looming and some teams may be parting with players to save money. I just read an article where GB may depart ways with K-Mason Crosby, LB-Ty Summers and DL Dean Lowry. Has one heard of other names that we might be interested in?

With quality QB play. Is this roster ready to go?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to iamhubby1's topic in Carolina Panthers
The problem with many Huddlers is they expect ever pick to be a starter and if they aren't they are a wasted pick. I think we have build quality depth. Building through the draft is always the best way to build a contender and hopefully many of these picks, with experience, start to show their worth. -

BTW that is 22 out of 24 picks (not counting Henderson) that are still with the team with the majority of them actually seeing playing time. I don't think we can go back through our draft history and have that many players still on the team and most importantly. CONTRIBUTE -

I know you are far less optimistic about our draft picks but I think many of them have a chance to contribute to this team this year. While many may not start, I do believe they have to the potential to contribute more than they did the previous year. 2020 D. Brown - Solid but not as productive as as first rounder should be. Maybe he improves his stats. Gross-Matos - The key to the 2020 draft. DE's usually show up in year 3 (aka CJ) Chinn - I would like to see us use him more like we did in 2020 than last year Pride and Robinson are gone Roy - would love to see him step up some more this season. He's a load in the middle. STO - not a bad pick up considering he's a round 7 choice 2021 Horn - Should pick up where he left off. Was doing well as a rookie Marshall - I think he was in the rookie doghouse and hopefully he steps up. I have high hopes for him. Christensen - He'll start inside or will be a quality backup for guard or tackle. Tremble - McAdoo likes using TEs so I expect more production out of him as well. Hubbard - Some don't care much for him but I believe with an offensive line built to run the ball, Hubbard is going to show his worth. NIxon - IMO really needs to be that player that steps up in his second year. We lost some really good players off the D-Line and he could really help our D-line, ALOT. Taylor - he'll be in on certain packages and will also be quality depth if someone goes down D. Brown - He's like Marshall in the rookie doghouse. We brought in alot of O-line talent but he could fight for a starting position. I am really interested to see what Campen will do with him. Shi Smith - (don't want S. Smith some one might think 89) His legal trouble might bounce him. He would be #4 receiver and I hope like Marshall he steps up too. Fletcher - MEH Hoskins - Like Nixon he can really help our D-line if he can find his way into the rotation and produce. 2022 Icky - Along with Moton we are going to have trend setters on this team. I really like his attitude and he seems nasty as hell. Corral - I believe he is going to make 31 other team scratch their heads on why they passed on him and us for passing on him for 2 rounds. There is just something about him that makes me feel he is going to be an awesome QB. Hopefully, Rhule doesn't play the veteran card at QB. I think Corral will beat Darnold out. **CJ Henderson - We gave up this years 3rd for him and as Fitterer says he's our 3rd round pick. I think Wilks is going to get him on the right track and we'll have probably the best secondary we've ever had. Mays - I honestly think this may have been a Campen pick. He may be the steal of the draft for us. In this run oriented offense he is a perfect piece and should at minimum be a solid backup. B. Smith, Barno and Barnes we're drafted for their athleticism and I don't expect too much from them but I surely would love to see Smith show up. -

I think offensively if CMC stays healthy we are going to score some points. I would prefer to see Corral under center but as long as Darnold has CMC he'll play better. I would like to see us sign a DE. I am not sure whether Gross-Matos is going to final show his worth. This is year 3 and he's got to step up. If we can get some pressure I think we have the secondary to create some coverage sacks but we need that pressure. If the defense shows up, which I believe it will. We might surprise some folks.
