Sounds like Scott Fitterer will continue as Panthers GM in '23
Growl replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
every team is forced to abide by the same rules and has the same window. Some teams do it well and others don’t. Trying to criminalize success on the field and intelligent maneuvering off of it doesn’t seem worthwhile. -

this just punishes teams who do well. Teams aren’t “manipulating” anything. The salary cap is not an important moral entity. It isn’t a moral wrong to not revere it and receive punishment for not obsessing it over like fans do. fans are only salty because they justified their team’s stubborn refusal to get better through high price trades or free agents as being fiscally necessary while well ran teams continued to add talent and win footballs games with no regard for the salary cap, rationalizing that “one day they’ll see! They’ll all see!” eventually those fans realized that the window you can buy yourself through good management of the salary cap process is so long that it doesn’t really matter if eventually the bill comes due. -

teams should be punished for doing what it takes to be good? Lol -

the offense can literally not score a single touchdown in a football game and people are still suggesting defense offense and defense are not equal parts of the formula for success anymore, you can LOAD THE D as much as you like and still be a horrible football team -
guys you’re a racist if you criticize robbies stupid haircut
-
lol must be tough to fight your own battles when you’ve got no data to lean on
-
that would still be bigger than that other anon poster’s manufactured listing, but as noted: it’s irrelevant given that we will get an official listing so lol at hardlinijg a stance that will absolutely be disproved

if I see a player who can make every throw on the field, losing no velocity on the ball, who can quickly and efficiently navigate traffic in the backfield, is an effective mover and can throw accurately on the run, doing all of things things at an elite level, that player has outstanding physical talent
-
you’re a panthersclaw tier poster
-
what a stupid question you’re the one manufacturing a sensational and unprovable take to reinforce your stance, I’m not carrying the burden of proof go ahead and offer something to substantiate your claim other than “well I’m looking at it”
-
“smart and reading defense” isn’t physical talent dingo but neither is merely checking the box of being tall
-
are you continuing to march out this number you made up
-
it is a testament to how stupid the average fan is that they want will Levis over Bryce young because of their height weight listing on espn.com guys don’t just come around who are as good at playing the position as young is while still having so much physical talent

Why do people make this dumb comment with such confidence

“aren’t you glad we didn’t get Trevor Lawrence”

to add to this, “value” isn’t even exclusively relegated to ability but to positional value, and cost/investment, both in terms of draft capital and financial tenability in regards to the player/position in question and the means of replacing it through additional means for example, interior linemen aren’t drafted high because A) their impact on a game is comparatively minimal B) you can buy elite interior line play in free agency for a pittance, and it is relatively reliable to do so. why would you spend a high pick on that position when you can use it on a position that can be less reliably acquired and costs more to acquire through trades/FA? this is what constitutes BPA, nothing I’m saying is particularly insightful or bold, and yet this board specifically seems to have this massive demographic of posters we have to humor every off-season (wait it’s not the off-season) who believe that the draft is a matter of nothing more than “wow this guy is so good/safe, nothing else matters, take him” because ole gettleboy said that’s how it works and if you get into all that high falutin thinkin stuff you’re gonna miss out on a chance to draft a Really Good Player
-
I get that you believe that what these GMs say in public interviews is a deep dive 30 for 30 commentary on the elaborate formula for drafting collegiate prospects but I’m going to ruin the illusion for you they just say that because it’s socially acceptable and has no specific point of criticism when draft day rolls around, teams still target players at the positions of most positional value relative to their needs sorry to ruin the experience for you
