Everything revolves around Bryce This Year
Navy_football replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sir, the Panthers are not going to have a winning season this year. They're too young/inexperienced at the skill positions. I'd say 2026 is the season for winning expectations. This year is for development. -
Official Panthers Roster Cuts (Updated)

Did the Rams cut CPJ? He honestly would compete to start at carolina as a rookie. Really wanted him in the draft. -

And Nick Scott. Special teams be damned! I don't want the risk of seeing that dude out there at safety ever again. Can't tackle. Can't cover. Should be able to pick up any old cheap waiver to replace him. -
Praying for a speedy recovery sir!

Yeah, I think you guys are taking the wrong approach with Bryce. Being intelligent means you can learn quickly and at a high level to solve problems. It doesn't necessarily mean you know everything already. He needed to learn a new offense both years in the NFL. First year, the coaching situation and conflicting instruction presented the worst situation for a player like him. Hopefully he's had enough experience in this offense now to perform better on the field. Definitely trending in that direction by the end of last season. He was never going to be a guy that killed it day one. He doesn't have the physical traits for that. Honestly I'm more concerned with this young receiving group and their ability to learn the offense early on. Bryce will benefit more from smart receivers than he will from pure athletes. Be where you're supposed to be, when you're supposed to be there. And oh yeah... catch the ball.

Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So where would Tank and Nico be on this team's depth chart? At least 1 and 3 with TMac. 1 and 2 if TMac needs a little time to adjust. -

Yeah, but we haven't had a Nico or Tank level player here since Smitty. Coker and XL have potential, but they're projects. Hopefully TMac is closer to a good NFL receiver out the gate. -
Level Of Enthusiasm Going into Game 1
Navy_football replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
So many unknowns. Excited to see what we really have, not what we could be - on paper. We should know by game 4. Game 1 is likely gonna be pretty ugly if I'm being honest. Hopefully Jax will be the same. -

This is it right here. This receiving group is getting way too much hype considering the unknowns and can't afford to lose the one proven guy on the roster. I could perhaps see letting David Moore go, but not AT. 2 rookies still learning the playback, and 2 second year guys that need to take a big step in development is not a group we can count on. And it's obvious that Renfrow still doesn't quite have his legs under him - or maybe this is his new norm? Unfortunately the 35 years old possession receiver is the only known we have. Well him and David Moore who I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the cut. -
The Panthers have an effort problem
Navy_football replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. We have no idea what Bryce Young is like on the field or in meeting rooms. None. We know how he is in interviews. That's it. We're starting to hear about his true personality coming out in practices, jawing with Jaycee and Mike Jack. No way he could be doing all of that while he was stinking up the field the way he was rookie season. You just look stupid and people will call you out on that ish. Keep playing like he did at the end of last season, and we'll see the real Bryce come out. Convert back to the first 2 games, and we'll see him slink back into his shell. -

I respectfully disagree. I'm 5'8" tall and I've led men and women that were a lot taller than me - in the military and in football. Actually was voted Team Captain junior and senior years in high school. People respect competence and talent/ability. Now if he's bad at his job, that could actually impact his ability to lead. You can't be out there telling guys to play better when you're the worst player on the field. -
Legette still focusing on drops per David Newton
Navy_football replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most drops happen because you take your eyes off the ball assuming you'll just catch it from muscle memory. The solution is to see your hands catch the ball. Don't take it for granted. Actually see your hands close on the ball before you do anything else. -
Post- Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection
Navy_football replied to Seltzer's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah. He's ok for Carolina, but I don't think any other teams are waiting around for a chance to snag him. -
I don't know man. Those receivers don't get enough credit. They were dawgs! All of them. All they did was be where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be there. And they caught the ball - every time. And Gronk may be the best TE I've ever seen. Dude was an absolute MONSTER! Couple that with a top defense and Brady was never in a bad spot. He was definitely the catalyst, but he was rarely in a bad situation.

Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!

Agree 100% in theory. When you draft a QB in the first round, let alone a top 5 pick, you have to give him 4 years. But... the way Bryce started last season was so bad, I don't know. He didn't look like he belonged. He actually looked hopeless. Same with guys like Ryan Leaf (attitude) and Jamarcus Russell (poor work ethic). Bryce's issue was his confidence was shot. Hopefully he keeps his swagger going forward. He has the ability to be our franchise QB.
-
Right. Rich people define "broke" totally different than regular folk. When millionaires file bankruptcy, they're usually still millionaires.

Honestly, Bryce would be in the same situation if not for the improved play over the last 10 games last season. He was skating on some thin ice.

You know you're absolutely right! And I'd add that it would be boring if everyone here was always in agreement and all kumbaya all the time. I for one appreciate differing opinions. Just don't really like when I see guys/gals making stuff up with such definitive language. Sends a different message. -
All-22 Review of the first team offense vs. Houston
Navy_football replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel better about the personnel now. Not sure about the pass rush, but there's potential when all the horses are in the race. The past couple of years have felt like we just didn't have NFL average at too many positions. Games like this highlight how young this team is. For instance, this receiving group has a lot of potential but they aren't as good as they're being hyped up to be - not yet anyway. -
All-22 Review of the first team offense vs. Houston

You beat me to it. He all of a sudden started running horizontally down the 50 yard line instead of getting depth upfield like he was the entire route. Like he was prepping to just jump and catch it, but misread how far it was. Just not on the same page. First play, I would have loved if Bryce targetted XL early. Man to man with a CB on his hip - just give him a chance like you did in practice - and there was safety help! Don't start getting conservative on us now. TMac and XL need to get that ball whenever they're facing man without safety help over the top. No QB in the NFL was gonna make that throw when he finally let it go though. It wasn't possible. Maybe just hoping for a PI. And he definitely saw the flag and knew why it was thrown. 2nd play. Yeah Chuba gave up on the play too early and went rogue. No worries. We know how he runs during the season. JT has to catch the third pass. Nothing else to say. Next series, first play. Bryce was looking to throw to XL, who ran a horrible route. Looked like it was supposed to be a deep out - maybe a choice. I don't know what he ran, particularly with no sideline equity. Bryce could have fired it into TMac early on the crosser, but was too late after he came off of XL - yes it was a 2 man route and a bad playcall against the coverage. Second play. I don't blame that one on Ickey as much as Hunt. He was supposed to come off the double and get the LB - who was in there in a hurry, maybe he was run blitzing. Chuba was looking for the cut back, but that LB prevented it. You could see Hunt tapping his helmet as if to say "my bad" Third play. Again, would have loved to see Bryce put it up to XL on that one. But I get it. Houston is just a really good defense. They get after you and force mistakes. Somebody said Herbert could have made that throw on the first play of the game. You mean the same Herbert that threw 4 INTs to Houston in the playoffs last season? Surely you didn't mean him. And if he didn't have Ladd in that game, it would have been much much worse. My verdict. Not as bad as I first thought. Just clean up a few plays/assignments. Not enough time to get in a groove. And... Bryce needs to stay friggin aggressive! He's much more exciting reading deep to shallow. I don't like dink and dunk Bryce nearly as much. XL, TMac and JT are downfield guys anyway. And at the end of the day - chicks dig the long ball.
