  1. Pretty much. Top of the draft includes teams that are typically at the top and don't pick the right guys (Jags, Jets, Texans, becoming us these days) and many of the better QBs slip to the consistently better teams in their off years. Buffalo traded up for Allen, KC for Mahomes, BAL for Jackson. Those teams targeted their top guy and were fortunate to work out a deal to grab them. Other teams take a promising backup with potential while having a guy (I.E. Rozeman grabbing Hurts after paying Wentz) 2020 was a good draft. And funny thing is I swear the common banter around these parts was that Burrow was a bust/one year wonder with small hands, Herbert couldn't lead, and Tua was going to be too affected by his injury. Russ, Rodgers, Cousins and Dak are about the only recent decent talented QBs who genuinely "fell" to their teams. We're also about to hit a major QB drought after this season when Brady, Rodgers, & maybe Stafford all retire. Best to start swinging and take our chance.
  2. He's also an animal off the field. That dude slays the Chicago West Loop white-young professional 20 somethings lol.
  3. We pick where we pick. Just hope we pick the right guy.
  4. I never really bothered until Folklore came out which is an excellent album. It's as much of a Bon Iver and The National album as a T-Swift one. And her mingling with that crowd in shows she's a musician and not just a pop star. Her songwriting is honestly top notch.
  5. I wouldn't say we'd be judging him too soon--he's a 5 year vet UDFA with a sub 57% completion rate to speak to in college and under 58% for his NFL career so far. He's just not the answer.
  6. How dare you mother f*cker
  7. Lol. I love the very expected "Trade down yet we get our guy" mentality which no GM actually positions. Teams trade down when they don't think there's anyone helpful compared to the value they receive in comp. A team could trade back into the first if a guy slips far enough (see: Bal/Lamar). And expect the mocks that will take a "generational" talent with our 1st (that's not actually generational) and then pick a QB in the 2nd that they're stanning for that turns out to be a 4th-6th rounder. I just highly doubt we do anything other than (a) pick our QB with our first or (b) trade up for the one we want
  8. If you're never willing to take a chance, even in what is I'd call an average year, not a poor class (for that, re: last year, 2015, 2010, 2002), then you'll never find a QB. There's high upside talent in this class that are indeed risks, but they could pay off and we could have our guy. Hooker, Levis, Richardson, Penix, all could be possibilities. You gotta take the chance if you think one of them has the chance to be great. And you know, it really falls on this scouting dept and Scott if they think one of them fits the bill. There's also a fair amount of CFB left to shake out. Let's see how we're feeling in a month or so.
  9. Same story every season. The current class isn't good, the NEXT one though, oh man. It's awesome. Next one comes, rinse repeat.
  10. My revised weekly thoughts: Tier 1 - Top Prospects (High R1) A. Bryce Young B. CJ Stroud Tier 2A - High Risk & Reward (Really hard to order, Mid R1 to R3) Hendon Hooker - There comes a point where you do have to consider what he's doing, even with those TEN wideouts and lack of NFL scheming. Age 25 y/0 rookie Will Levis - his arm is elite, but his abilities seem to disappear in games whether it be coaching (or is it him?) Hard to tell, still waiting to really see IT with this kid. Problem is he's going to be 24 soon Michael Penix Jr. - Teetering between 2A/B for me. Big upside, the second half of season will make or break him on scout radars. Really like everything about him, has the downfield aggressive mentality, problem is WAS's line is ridiculous so want to see how he does against better schools. Oregon game will be big. Nix v. Penix. Tier 2B - Medium Risk/How really high is the the ceiling? (R3-5) Tanner McKee - Measures out, looks the part, acts the part..but in games? Davis Mills+ Grayson McCall - Like McKee, with everything laid out--stats, measurables, it seems he would be a commodity, but the lack of buzz is telling me scouts don't really view him super highly, likely for his fair accuracy & avg/slightly above avg arm combo Tier 3 - Developmental/Not there yet Cam Ward - Love him, but he needs to stay in school. Anthony Richardson - Talent is there, playmaking is there, can he progress enough or does he stay in school?
  11. You need either a more assured high pick or a younger known commodity/player (or both) in a Burns deal. Not taking it personally. Maybe if they tossed in Van Jefferson and some mid rounders but hard no. They're not the team I'd want to send him to, can get better elsewhere or just keep him and see if we can work something out within the next year.
  12. PFF is gross. Eww. But here, I'll allow it.
  13. If it becomes the case he doesn't want to re-sign here or is asking too much, we'll have until next year's deadline. Have some time with his 5th year option.
  14. They better get to it with Herbert already for my fantasy team. That boy cooks it every time he touches the ball. Just like Pollard in Dallas right now.
  15. If we're talking second tier guys, I like Penix a bit more. But McCall definitely looks interesting. Won't lie or just poo on the suggestion. Though...I've been tricked before with these type of guys so have some hesitation. If he finishes the year at the current rate, he'll definitely benefit opting in on this draft. Just unsure how scouts are looking at him, is he a legit R1 guy? Or is he that James Morgan/Hackenberg type? He at least checks a few spots: Size, Age, Arm, Ceiling, Agility. Issues: Accuracy on the NFL throws outside of the screens, seams and slants. Outs, curls, sideline passes seem erratic at times. But no doubt he's been slaying overall in that system. He's been efficient and has made some pretty passes.
  16. Roquan for a 2nd, 5th, & AJ Klein? Well then, Shaq isn't likely worth much methinks
  17. Could be a fun strategy to follow up our QB R1 pick with a top TE or WR. We finally have a OL so maybe go after the receiving dudes to pair with him. Looking at Michael Mayer TE Notre Dammit or Quentin Johnson WR TCU Although I do love Jordan Addison WR as just a playmaker WR. Could just get our QB, trade up for Addison and call it an offense. He's been the best WR in college football for 2 years now. Just a mad man. Stroud/Young +Addison a pray to thee football gods.
  18. I have good faith in hoping Horn will still be great and you can't destroy yourself playing the hindsight game but oy vey!
  19. Horn looks great when he plays, but we likely selected him RIGHT before 2 generational defensive talents One definitely on a HOF trajectory.
  20. I'm thinking it's just none. Mainly because I don't think we've ever gotten a decent offer for Shaq, imagine a team would rather just pick him up for less once we inevitably release him this offseason. And no teams are LB needy enough to want to trade for one that isn't a playmaker.
  21. Bucket thread for your one final day of trade ideas that will not happen. Cheers.
  22. Does this mean the NFL will start calling these stupid endzone poses? Or are those off limits?
  23. Starting to really show what everyone at Auburn was hollering about that draft buildup.
  24. Also, they started letting entire teams delay a game after turnovers by running into an endzone for lame photo opps. I mean, that annoying sh*t vs. an emotional yet not overly long or intimidating celebration is what makes me irk.
